Strategies for Boosting Intrinsic Motivation.

in #strategieslast year

Learn how to re-energize your inner motivation to advance your outlook and performance. How can you increase your intrinsic motivation? Assume you are a fashion magazine employee.

You and your coworkers already know that the office will serve as your runway, right? Everyone's motives for dressing a certain way are unique. Some people dress according to their mood and level of confidence, while others go all out to be the center of attention or set trends. People with intrinsic motivation are known to dress up for personal reasons.

People with extrinsic motivation are those that choose their clothing based on peer or societal pressure, for instance. What are these motivational styles, and why are they significant?
Difference Between Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation
“We are happy when for everything inside us there is a corresponding something outside us.” – William Butler Yeats.

Extrinsic motivation occurs when behavior is motivated by external rewards such as praise, awards, medals, and recognition or by external deterrents such as danger and unflattering criticism.
People who are motivated by external factors place a greater emphasis on the result than the accompanying (pleasant) emotions.

Engaging in activities you actually enjoy and are not under any obligation or pressure to accomplish will help you stay motivated. When we do these things, the time just seems to fly past. What we do, how we do it, and how much we accomplish all depend on our motivation.

Testing has shown that our motivation determines how well we perform. Our performance is worse the less inspired we are. Your only source of inspiration will be yourself if your peers lack motivation and your environment is harmful.

Following are some strategies for using your intrinsic motivation:
Write down all of your favorite things.
Once you've identified all of your go-to books, interests, or pursuits, you'll already have a list of "happy" options at your disposal.

You don't have any justifications for being uninspired, bored, or inactive. Unable to decide? Your alternatives are teeny-tiny. Never claim that you have nothing to do.

Go for a stroll. "Should I work to live or vice versa?"
The debate is still going on. People frequently forget that life is more than just a job.
You need a break, even if you adore your employer, are content with your pay, or are committed to it.

Sure, your job offers special perks and a competitive salary, but these are all extrinsic motivational factors. Participate in family and outdoor activities that will boost your intrinsic motivation, such as hikes and picnics.

How else will you take advantage of everything life has to offer outside of your 9 to 5 job? We should not be defined by our employment.

Recall enjoyable moments. Think back to the first swimming competition you won. Think back to the first time you aced a test. Remember how wonderful those achievements felt? Imagine how wonderful it would be if they experienced it a second, third, or fourth time. Building intrinsic motivation is easier the more confident you are in your talents.

Participate in neighborhood gatherings.
