Yes sir, I have Sincerely Sell it
THE CITY of Andalusia, Spain, is controlled by an honest and just caliph named Al-Manshur bin Abi Amir Al-Hajib. He has a big plan to build a bridge as a link between two cities separated by a river.
The project was budgeted forty thousand gold dinars. Despite the great cost, the Caliph sees a greater benefit side for the smooth transportation and economic activities of its people.
It is expected that the project can be realized. Therefore, the ruler must buy a patch of land owned by poor parents because on that land will be built the foundation for the bridge. The Caliph told the project officer to buy the land for 100 dinars.
The project officer also carries out the order. He went to the landowner and asked him, "How much will you sell your land?"
The poor old man replied, "Five dinars!"
Looking at the offer of very poor poor parents, the project officer thought to buy the land below the price set by the caliph. That is, it has saved state expenditure.
Finally, the officer bids the land for 10 dinars, which is twice the asking price of the landowner.
Of course the old man was happily absorbed. For him the money of ten dinars is huge. He can buy new land and save the rest.
Meanwhile, the project officer feels he has completed his job well, even assuming he has contributed to saving the country's expenditure. He also recounted the bargaining that occurred and hoped the Caliph would praise his idea.
Hearing this the caliph's face showed a deep disappointment to his officers. He also ordered to call the poor old man before him.
The order was executed. Not long afterwards, the old man came to him with a thousand question marks in his head, "Will the caliph scold me for selling the land for the price?" He thought.
Unexpectedly, the Caliph Mansur greeted him with a cheerful face and said, "O Old man, are you willing to sell your land for ten dinars?"
"Yes, sir. I have been willing to sell it, "replied the old man.
Khalifah Manshur again said, "Old man, the land will be used for the benefit and the common good. Therefore, I thank you for your willingness to sell the land for a bargain price. However, before we had set out to buy your land for a hundred dinars. So, please accept the remaining payment you have to receive! "
The old man was taken aback by the Caliph's decision. Absolutely he did not think his rights would be appreciated in such a way by the authorities.
