My first Pex Plumbing Job! A story in photos.

in #storyinphotos5 years ago

Our old dishwasher broke and we replaced it with a new one. Our old dishwasher was connected to cold water. Not sure it was supposed to be, but the new one needs hot water. Time to do some plumbing.

I had to purchase some specialty tools for the job. Pex clamp tool, Pex cutter, and adjustable wrench.

I'm thankful that my house is partially plumbed with pex piping. Makes this job much easier.

Disconnected the cold water!

This tool both removes and crimps the pipe clips, depending on the setting.

First crimp.

Fastened tightly.

I connected the junction on to the got water line and connected the dishwasher.

I was happy how is his job turned out, especially now that we have a dishwasher again!

This has been my first plumbing job and I'm delighted that it was completed without issue.

Have you worked with pex piping before?

Howdy sir ironshield! Pex is the best! So easy to work with and no one breaks into your house when you're gone to steal it! lol In our real estate business in Ohio everyone was moving to pex to thwart the thieves.

We're less than 10 miles away from Detroit, all those burned out houses used to have copper in them. Now if you go to a scrap yard, they finger-print you if you are scrapping over a certain weight of copper at a time.

Exactly, same thing everywhere. Unfortunately. We'd constantly see houses with the walls all torn out because they'd take all the wiring too.

I have come to love working with pex rather than the other methods. I don't have to redo a job because of leaks. Pex is flexible so perfect angles and lengths are no longer required. The danger from cracked pipes from freezing is very much reduced.

Yes, pex is way better than copper. Less expensive too.

No my friend I have not had to deal with pex piping. I will however say that I would pretty much do anything else than plumbing! A couple of years ago I had to remove a water softener that was like 40 years old and it was such a pain getting all of the water connections working again without a leak!

Yes, plumbing can be very difficult. I have to say, pex was easier to work with than I expected, with the right tools.
