The sign said the business had been established in 1871. The year he'd been born. Being immortal left few opportunities to reminisce surrounded by the relics of one's era. So much had already been lost and the risk of discovery was too great. Fate steered him through the door regardless.

Is he a vampire? Some other supernatural beastie? The result of an unexpectedly successful medical intervention? Maybe another fifty words would tell us for sure.

This story's random word was 'established'.
