Hello Dear Steemians !!! meet me again @visky after a few days I did not write or show up on the steemit feed. On this occasion allow the author to discuss a bit about the story of a guardian of Leuser Mountain National Park forest, he is an expert on plants and wildlife that exist in the area of Leuser Mountain National Park. He is not a famous person, he is a very familiar in the area of Leuser Mountain National Park, all visitors and activists who exist in the area of Leuser Mountain National Park is no stranger to his name, he was not called by his real name they actually called this middle-aged man with the honorary title of professor.

The short name is ibrahim according to the degree of education that he can, education ibrahim only elementary school (SD), but for researchers and activists who do activities on area Leuser Mountain National Park just call this man a professor. Ibrahim was given the title of Professor by researchers and environmentalists at Leuser because of his remarkable abilities of plants and wildlife in the Leuser Mountain National Park.

The title of professor who pinned in front of the name ibrahim not without reason, expertise men born in 1964 in the village Semadam, Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara is very rarely owned by someone else even though she well educated. Ibrahim in Aceh province is one figure that recognize the different types of plants and wildlife that exist in the area of Leuser Mountain National Park, yes even know when the plants are flowering and fruiting. There are about 1000 plants with local names that ibrahim know and as many as 400 more species of plants with scientific names, including plant and animal cycles that eat fruit or foliage.

Ibrahim was able to use almost all research methodologies on forest areas, such as grid cell research methods, camera traps, focal animal sampling, primate sampling, mammal trace identification, and freshwater fish. It also operates a Global Positioning System (GPS) and forest navigation, not mistaken if ibrahim is called as a forest handler Leuser Mountain Nasioanal Park, because ibrahim really controlled the area. Already countless, the number of researchers assisted by Ibrahim to complete the study of education S1, S2, S3, even to grab the title of Professor, Not to mention, he did research with NGOs on the issue of the environment and wildlife.

Ibrahim living on the outskirts of Leuser Mountain National Park or in Ketambe subdistrict, Southeast Aceh Regency, did not take formal education to understand the ins and outs of plants in the area of leuser ecosystem. His expertise was obtained from the parents and those of its predecessor. Ketambe is an area that is often visited by travelers from both domestic and domestic country to enjoy the beauty of leuser Mountain National Park and also ketambe often visited by some researchers.

Before becoming a researcher, ibrahim was just a farmer in the ketambe area, much of the time he spent in the garden. But because of the large number of tourists and researchers who often come to the area of Leuser Mountain National Park then ibrahim was interested to accompany them on the way to the jungle of Leuser Mountain National Park. Ibrahim was attracted to the first leuser Mountain Research in 1986, at that time he became a research assistant gibbons conducted by one university in california, united states. The research was conducted for six months, after the research program is completed ibrahim back to become a farmer and once in a while Ibrahim become a guide for tourists who visit the Leuser Mountain National Park.

While being a guide for tourists, ibrahim also often learn from the older people who are in his area where he lives, Ibrahim slowly recognize a variety of local plants and various animals that exist in the area of Leuser Mountain National Park. One of his teachers is the late Aman Bugam, his teacher was awarded Kalpataru from President Soeharto at that time.

Ibrahim was again involved in botanical research together with researchers from Utrecht, the Netherlands in 1991-1992 focused on the diversity of plants in Ketambe. After that in 1993, Ibrahim again accompanied the Dutch researcher, Carel Van Schaijck, who conducted orangutan research in the forest of Suak Belimbing, Aceh Selatan. Ibrahim followed the Sumatran orangutan for days and recorded all the behavior and what was eaten. Ibrahim was very surprised, when he saw the Sumatran orangutan could eat using tools, in the form of wood to take honey. This is a very interesting thing for him.

After that, Ibrahim went to several forests in Indonesia. ibrahim was involved as a micro hydro research consultant in Lampung in 2000 and along with WWF, Ibrahim also conducted research on rhinoceros feed in East Kalimantan in 2013. Ibrahim is also included in the rhino trace search there. Ibrahim's work was not in vain, In the six months to search the Sumatran rhino, Ibrahim and WWF Indonesia research team managed to find the animals are endangered.

In addition to researching rhinoceros in East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan, Ibrahim was also involved in animal research at Samar Kilang, Bener Meriah, Aceh Province with WWF program with Aceh government. Ibrahim also focuses on plant research at Soraya Research Station and several other places in Aceh alongside the Leuser Conservation Forum (FKL).

Ibrahim is a humble figure, he continues to assist young Indonesian researchers to complete his research in the Leuser Mountain National Park. Although often accompanying renowned researchers such as Carel Van Schaijck, Nico Van Strein, Elizabeth Fox, and Ian Singleton, Ibrahim remained humble. He is always willing to assist young Indonesian researchers. Director of Leuser Conservation Forum Rudi Putra said, Ibrahim is a select figure who knows all the plants in the forest Leuser. Interestingly, he is a local community living on the edge of the world's lung forest. In Indonesia, very few people like Ibrahim can identify plants up to 1,000 species.

Ecosystem in area Leuser Mountain National Park is a natural rain forest that boasts of Indonesia and the world. The area of Leuser Mountain National Park covers an area of 2.6 million hectares in two provinces. While in North Sumatra, based on Decree of Minister of Forestry No.10193 / Kpts-II / 2002, forest area and other usage area about 384.292 hectares.

Leuser Mountain ecosystem area is home to endangered species of the world such as elephants, orangutans, rhinoceros, and Sumatran tigers. In the Leuser Mountain ecosystem area is Leuser Mountain National Park, Nature Reserve area, Protected Forest, Production Forest, Limited Production Forest, Permanent Production Forest, and Convertible Production Forest.

Related to the current condition of Leuser, Ibrahim expressed sadness to see his forest damaged by various illegal activities. The animals are hunted, but this forest is very important for human life. "We do not greed or pretend to forget, disaster will happen if the forest continues to be destroyed," he said.

Source Story

He really inspired a lot of people, especially among researchers, students and communities of nature lovers. Professor's title is very worth to pinned to him who is willing to maintain and maintain the ecosystem of Leuser area, because only the Leuser Mountain National Park where the rare plants and animals that can survive.
