The Story of Fatimah Zahra and Ali bin Abi Talib - Mate did not arrive on time but he came at the right time.
The love between Fatimah and Ali has actually grown since a long time. But both of them were very careful about their words, attitudes and expressions. In fact, it is said, Satan could not sniff it out. Ali's determination to propose to the Prophet's daughter began when Fatimah treated her father's wounds after going to war. Since then Ali promised to collect money to buy dowry.
Not yet collected his savings, what is expected Ali had time to disappear because there was another man namely Abu Bakar who first applied for Fatimah. Ali is increasingly insecure, especially his rival is a man who has a higher quality of faith. As is known, Ali Bin Abi Talib was indeed known as a hero, but he was also a poor young man.
Ali's enthusiasm returned when he learned that Abu Bakar's proposal was rejected by Fatimah.
Bright sun seems to only last a little. Ali resigned when another prophet's friend Umar Bin Khatab tried to propose to Fatimah. Especially the one who became his opponent this time was a brave man.
But again, Ali returned excited after knowing Umar Bin Khatab's proposal was rejected by Fatimah.
Despite knowing the good news, Ali had not dared to apply for Fatimah. Ali realized that he was just a poor man. Even the possessions he possessed were only war clothes and coarse flour to eat.
Ali also tried to tell Abu Bakar about his fate, "O Abu Bakar, you have made my heart jiggle which was previously calm. You have reminded me something that I have forgotten. For Allah's sake, I really wanted Fatimah, but the only obstacle for me was because I have nothing. "
While touched by Abu Bakar replied, "O Ali, do not say that. For Allah and His Messenger, this world and everything else is just like dust scattered!".
Hearing Abu Bakar's words, Ali became even more enthusiastic. Until finally capitalizing on the armor he used to wear to fight, Ali tried to approach the Messenger of Allah to propose to his son. Ali's application process was enshrined through the hadith of Ummu Salamah's history.
"When I saw the face of the Prophet seemed radiant. Smiling, he said to Ali bin Abi Talib, 'O Ali, do you have a provision of dowry?"
"By Allah," answered Ali bin Abi Talib frankly, "You yourself know how I am, there is nothing about me that you do not know. I have nothing but an armor, a sword and a camel."
"About your sword," said the prophet in response to Ali bin Abi Talib's reply, "You still need it to continue the struggle in the way of Allah. And you also need the camel to take water for your family and also you need it on long trips. Therefore, I want to marry you only on the basis of a dowry of an armor. I am satisfied to receive the item from your hand. O Ali, you must rejoice, because Allah actually married you in the sky before I married you on earth ". Such is the history told by Ummu Salamah r.a.
After everything is ready, with a feeling of satisfaction and joyful heart, and witnessed by friends, the prophet speaks the words of the marriage of his daughter,
"That Allah SWT ordered me to marry you Fatimah for a dowry of 400 dirhams (the value of an armor). Hopefully you can accept that."
