Who’s the real you?

Who’s the real you? The person who did something awful, or the one who’s horrified by the awful thing you did? Is one part of you allowed to forgive the other?" —Rebecca Stead

"We all have made mistakes in our lives and at some point those mistakes makes us feel so awful that we become so harsh with ourselves to the point that we begin to hide away. We begin to see ourselves in such a way that makes us loath about who we are. We begin to believe that we deserve nothing but being alone. The extremes we go to hate ourselves for the mistakes we done in the past is way more awful than the mistakes itself."

But the thing is, who really doesn't make mistakes? We all are filled with flaws.

Recovering from self hatred takes alot of time. It is real hard to love yourself and set yourself free when you've punished yourself for years for your mistakes.

However, as hard it may sound, its definitely worth it. And one day you'll realise the mistakes you've made were made for a reason. And at times you realise the things you thought were mistakes were actually the right thing and probably the best thing you could've done at that moment.

It was never a mistake, it was a life learning lesson.

We easily apologise to those we hurt but can we forgive ourselves that easily?

"Healing takes a lot of courage. It isn’t only asking you to forgive those who have hurt you but it also requires you to accept yourself completely and unconditionally. There are days that are still hard and frustrating. We just want to be left alone, to sit down with the pain and cry it all out. But for some reason or another, we just can’t do it yet. There are also days that we feel like we’re about to give up and just walk away completely with nothing but our broken pieces and wait until emptiness soothes the soul. It’s not really that easy. It does take time to heal, to accept that some things are meant to be temporary no matter how hard you try, and how badly we want it in our life."

We often fail, sometimes we stumble, we have our limitations and it takes a lot of guts to accept the truth that no matter how strong we think we are, we also need some rescuing."
