SHATTERED ( a story of hope): BROKEN HEARTS STILL BEAT!! PART 1.... Joan sighed for the umpteenth time. Tears welled up in her eyes, ruining her heavy makeup. The wedding hall was packed to the brim. She should have been happy but no, she wasn't, it was her EX's wedding. Who would be happy? Her coral satin gown became too hot for her body to stay in. This was the guy she had been in love with since she was 17. It would be no overstatement to say he was the love of her life. Then one day five years later, he dropped the bombshell. It was a cold August morning when she rolled over to her bedside and as usual, picked up her samsung galaxy tab E, dragged the locked screen to get a view of the phone screen when her eyes fell on it, " i'm sorry dear but i don't think i can continue with this anymore. Me, you, it's not working. I have found the one, in fact i did two years ago. I didn't just want you to know yet but i think this is the best moment to break this news to you. I'm sorry Joan. I know you love me, i love you too but there are certain things that just cannot be. I'm sorry, i hope you find a place in your heart to forgive me." That was Fred, the love of her life. Joan remained dazed for about 3 minutes then as if on cue, let out what seemed more like a roar than a cry. Her deep tenor voice echoed through the room. Then she slumped down on the bed and fell into sobs that sent her body into spastic tremors like someone who was in an epileptic fit. Back to the beautifully-decorated wedding hall, Joan sat at the back, the last pew. The mightiest of sunshade shielding her watery, reddish eyes from the world. Right in front of her, Fred stood exchanging sacred, deep vows with another woman. He had taken five years of her life already but that wasn't the only thing he took with him, he took away her heart, still beating in his palms.... ( to be continued)
