The Creation Myth of a Forgotten People (Original)

in #story7 years ago

When sleeping gods woke and made the world
They stitched it up with 7 seams,
In every patch there was a hole
And from each one there issued steam.

But due to steam the fabric soaked
Increasing pressure on the seams
So much that, one by one, they broke
Releasing stars and air and dreams.

The stars found home, where we know them now
And the air was married to earthbound dreams,
And dappled light from on high shone down
To make this all as it all now seems.

And when the gods once more sought sleep
They looked upon the realms they'd made
Knowing the change in time's slow creep
Their pride precluded lamenting shame.

We are all now divided by these 7 seams
Yet a whole, if patch by patch,
Left to fend while gods still dream
But alive to love, and aware at that.

Nice ! Found you in my daily story top list and upvoted you, since I think your post is still undervalued ! All the best !!

I saw another one of your poems and I was like yes! I like to rhyme with people and I was real excited to add another verse to one of yours
BUT
This one is complete. Adding to it would only diminish the finished product. Very good man.
