MISS BADMUS (PART 1)

in #story6 years ago

She closed her eyes as she felt his fingers slowly move across her left arm. Tola couldn’t help but smile inside; this was all she had dreamt of for weeks. Bayo was the new IT guy at the auditing firm where she worked; he was everything the word ‘perfect’ could describe. He had the perfect height, perfect smile, perfect dentition, perfect voice; he even had the perfect ass. She couldn’t count how many times she had subconsciously forgotten those tiny eyes of hers on his lips.
She couldn’t stop smiling to herself even as Bayo carefully placed a kiss on her forehead. From the first day she laid eyes on him, she felt a strong connection. She knew it was everything sexual and only 3 days ago was she happy to know that the feeling was mutual.
She could feel his breath on her face as he moved his lips from her forehead to her lips; she seized her breath as his lips pressed against hers. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach flutter; even her head seemed to be floating in the sky. She couldn’t really explain the rest of the events that followed; all she knew was that was all she had longed for and thought of for 3 weeks. And was she satisfied? Oh yes, she was; Bayo was every inch the god she had imagined him to be.
As Tola quickly dressed up, Williams crossed her mind. Her once smiley face changed into a quick frown. She hoped Bayo hadn’t noticed the change in her countenance. This was a wrong time to think of Williams her boyfriend of 7 years. But she couldn’t fight off the thought for long as she picked up her car keys from the small table close to Bayo’s bed. She smiled at him and he winked back at her. No words had to be spoken; they both understood what was going on between them as she walked to the door of his little apartment.
‘Guess I’ll see you tomorrow’, Bayo said as she smiled and walked out the door.
Williams face flashed in her mind again. She knew she loved him but he had hurt her so much. He had cheated on her continuously in their 7 year relationship. Some she knew of because he had cried to her begging for her forgiveness and swearing not to repeat his bad behavior, others she found out herself. She wondered why she still stuck with him. That was one question she had asked herself several times and she had never come up with a sensible answer. But then maybe she stuck with him because their relationship was a family affair or because she had given too much to walk away so easily. She had never pictured herself with anyone else except Williams, she had practically built her whole world around him and it felt safe just being with him. She was always sure of one thing and that was security; she couldn’t trust anyone else but Williams. He was more of the devil she knew than the angel she didn’t know and she had always been comfortable with it being that way.
She sighed as she got into her car and drove away from Bayo’s house. As she drove, she reminisced the evening’s event. For once she had decided to play Williams game and it felt really good; it felt like her revenge. He was having fun and so was she, after all, he hadn’t shown up at her place or called her for almost 2 weeks, sometimes she wondered if they were still in a relationship or they were just fulfilling their families’ wishes. They both knew their relationship was wearing thin, she just wondered how long the game they were playing would end. She looked at the time on the dash board, 8.45 p.m. she was grateful there was no traffic and she would be home in the next 10 minutes. She needed to take a hot shower and sleep, which was all her body demanded. She remembered how Bayo’s lips felt on hers and she smiled as she turned her car into the street that led to her house; her humble crib as she often called it.
She pulled up in front of her house and noticed something strange; a red range rover that looked exactly like Williams car. Well, she wasn’t going to panic just yet because it was dark and Williams wasn’t the only one in Lagos that had a red range. And he wouldn’t show up at her place without calling first; in their 7 year relationship he never showed up without calling her first. She got out of her car and walked over to the range closely observing it, it really did look like Williams’. She decided to keep her calm as the evening’s event clouded her mind; she couldn’t see any sign of Williams and she quietly walked to the stairs that led to her house. Sitting at the foot of the steps was Williams with tears in his eyes and in his hand was something that looked like a jewelry case.
‘Baby I’m sorry for everything I’ve put you through in the last 7 years’, Williams said before Tola could utter a word.
‘I’ve been a fool and I accept my faults, but I can’t imagine my life without you Tola’, Williams continued as he opened the box, ‘Please will you marry me Adetola Badmus’.
A quick flash of the evening’s episode with Bayo and Tola numbly starred at Williams in shock….
