THE POOR OPPRESSING THE POOR part1

Being a small poor village, it required little or no effort to conquer. The king was immediately killed, the princes and princesses were taken captives as slaves while the young queens were taken as concubines, the men were killed and young girls raped; it was indeed a moment of dreaded dead terror for the people of Kundudu kingdom.

A kingdom that was respected for their cultural integration and peace coexisting among themselves as well as with other neighbouring communities, where the king is treated like a god and historical events are of uttermost importance.
Meanwhile, some good looking villagers were also taken captive. Being good looking entails having the capacity to work on their sugar cane plantation.

Zumba, a young handsome fella was among those taken to work on the plantation. He was indeed different from others. He did all he was told to do; even without being told, he finishes his own portion of task long before any other person. Although a slave,he was dedicated to the service he had been called into. Being faithful was his tag and being on time was his nick name. He never for once acted unjustly to his master even when he was unjustifiably treated.

As he continued in his just act,he became noticed by his fellow slaves and masters. All things being equal, he was promoted from being a mere farm boy to a factory assistant.
The position he was promoted to was a post meant for citizens of the domain where he was a slave,but grace brought him so far.
Due to the nature of the work,hr soon began to make new friends. He friendship with some top folks rubbed on him that people hardly believe that he was a slave.

On certain occasion, the oppressors will allow slaves who merited freedom go free; which made it a moment every slave long for.

It was a time to let go of a slave. Everybody was sure who will be set free.
Atlas....it was all true, Zumba was granted freedom. But on a contrary, something that had never happened in the history of slavery as at then happened.

Zumba opening refuse to be set free, he openly confessed his loyalty as a slave forever. He vowed to serve the kingdom till his last breath, he pledged to be more faithful in service and he denounced being a fellow from Kundudu kingdom.
What a shame!

But, what might have been the reason for such an act?? Only the gods knows.
