The year was 2199 and the passage of time had ushered in a new era on mankind.

The earth had undergone series of drastic changes and civilization had evolved to an higher, more advanced stage.

No more was the threat of infant death or cardiovascular diseases. Cancer was a thing of a distant, unimaginable past. They had redifined the meaning of immortality through preservation of human minds and bodies either as a whole or as two separate entities.

Robotic prosthetics and replacements of whole body with full metallic parts had been made possible in the case of neurodegenerative disorders.

Sapienization of few animals had been made possible, while still monitoring the population size and waste management.

Famine and hunger were things said to scare children at night.

Racism, sexism and other double standard points of view had been wiped from existence. Men could now walk amongst others without fear of being mugged for having a different color or looked down upon for being of a different ethnicity.

Sunlight wasn't as severe as it should have been, considering the current proximity of the earth to the sun(mercury had long since spiralled into the sun, making the earth the second planet closest to the sun). A more efficient artificial layer of ozone(the O3 dome) had been erected which served to filter the ultraviolent rays form the sun and reduce the intensity of sunlight reaching the earth by harnessing the sun beam and converting it to pure solar energy that were received in the sky towers.

The sky towers were buildings that projected into the sky like arms, desperately reaching to grasp at the heavens, not unlike the historical towers of babel built by men from a so distant past one would imagine it was a myth considering the fact that sky towers didn't come into existence until about a hundred years ago.

Large, beautiful animals roamed the cities and skies giving the otherwise robotic looking metal filled landscape a touch of life. Hounds the size of a 21st century horse paraded the streets, their beautiful colored fur glistering in the dim daylight. The sky reflected lights that glowed from the top of the sky towers, giving it a rainbowish hue that brighten up the dull colored clouds.

From the patrol drones that dominated the skies to the large beasts crawling on the earth, an outsider to this era would have thought it was an alien invasion that lead to this wonderously fabulous period.

Whereas, the current state was made possible through the hard work and perseverance of those who are now called the imperials.

Their origin remains unknown but it stays in record that they were a group of scientists and soldiers of a far away past that came together, deciding to make the tough calls which the rest of humanity couldn't and thereby opening up the world to new advance.

The new era still remembered them through the imperial day celebration that took place once in the 187 days that made up a year.

The modern day advancement of this age would have been something of a marvel to people born before or after this golden age of mankid had been achieved, for things had never been like this and from recent calculations, the earth was fated to spiral into the inferno called the sun.
