The Interview

Kenneth was wet, and it was not only the puddle splattered all over him that annoyed him it was because that the driver of the vehicle that gave him this impromptu baptism feigned ignorance of his actions.

It seemed ironic to Kenneth that seconds ago he was complaining about the weather and imagining himself in a pool, well be careful what you wish for.

He hurled abuses at the at the fleeing assailant and started making his way back home to change his clothes, he was glad that the interview will not be starting till late afternoon so he had ample time to go home and change.

He lived in a student lodge, behind the campus he moved there when he was in his final year in university, and unlike student hostel, the place was peaceful and quiet.

The only thing that made him unhappy was his nosy neighbour, she was always concerning herself with his affairs, and as Kenneth was climbing the stairs he saw that she was sitting in front of her door reading a novel.

He was preparing himself for the barrage of questions, then her phone started ringing, he took advantage of the distraction and speedily entered his room.

Once inside his room he pulled the afflicted trousers and took a fresh one from his wardrobe, luckily for him his shoes were spared from the mud, he applied some perfume, and stepped out, luckily for him Peace was still on the phone, he gave her a casual wave and hurried to his interview.

The company headquarters of Alliance Limited was huge and imposing, it dwarfed all other buildings on Hope Avenue, as Kenneth stepped into the building he was greeted with a cool blast of air from air conditioners that looked more like an armoured tank.

Kenneth instantly wished he had worn his cardigan, he moved towards the reception, the receptionist was a young lady and she looked like she was in her early twenties, but considering what ladies of nowadays did with makeup he could not state for sure, her smile instantly made him forget the cold atmosphere of the reception. She had a little gap in her teeth that added to her beauty.

How may I help you sir?.Emm, I am here for the interview.Okay, take the door to your left, and when you get there ask the officials there for the personnel Manager’s office. Kenneth went down the hall and entered the adjoining room, he hoped that he will pass through it on the way back with good news.
