What a Bad Day!

in #story5 years ago

Today was awesome but quite troublesome. I took in a test for my college Result Compilation. It would make up for my 2nd Semesterial result. I had lots of hope and confident that I would Ace everything in the course. As today would have it, the long awaited Written Examination was unexpectedly changed to an Electronic-Exam. Not that E-exams are difficult but not every student love taken an online exam as compared to those who like written exams. From a survey I undertook, Lots of FUTMINNA Students prefer written exams to Electronic Base! Why? Simply because their personal thoughts and little effort would grant them a pass. It’s a true saying that, everyone loves putting their thoughts down.

“Only Bloggers would agree to this!”

It was their words against ours, we had no choice than to accept what awaited. The school system here is quite different, they don’t inform the Students on vital information before hand. It’s like a prison cell with no communication; everyone’s minding their business. Which is basically unfair!

Although there were other exams before EET 214(The last course for the day). It was a written paper 😄, although with much confidence we undertook the test but slight mistakes were made. The first course we undertook was EET 215 called “The Strength of Materials”. It would be unfair to say that during processing that some bugs were spoty. EET 215 isn’t difficult, it’s just a challenging markup. It’s the core foundation of Engineering. Many college graduate would find this amusing, but all materials existing cannot fully function without effectively processed by EET 215.

The world needs The understanding and application of strength of materials. It’s significant everywhere and applied anywhere; during roofing, implementation of beams, structure analysis and construction. It’s shocking that not everyone loves the theoretical aspect of this course. It’s perceived as boooooring!

Having to learn about something never seen or understanding the foundation of some basic machines without the chances of witnessing them. It’s such a problem, here in Nigeria. The ratio of our Technological advancement to the application of Engineering is broadly No-where. Not all Engineering Student graduate with the full understanding of their course. And as such makes them half baked bread!

Ok let’s see an example!

During an interview with a Mechanical Engineering Student who graduated in 2017 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was asked to identity some basic parts of the guages present in an automobile. But shockingly, he responded “We have not been taught and shown those parts before“. It was a shock at sight, the interviewers were amazed along side his co-applicants. No one expected such an answer having learnt that THE University of Nsukka produces certain large amount of Firstly class graduates. How can a graduate in mechanical engineering say such. It was a disgrace!

It’s believed that just 5-25% of the basics Engineering you specialize in, would be issued out during/taught in college. But regardless No students should ever use that as a reason for his or her ignorance. If you don’t Know something simply say so and don’t blame others. The problem was that he blamed the institution for his failure and ignorance. He needed something to take his weakness away but couldn’t find.

Far from the example, The exam held was a success; Thanks to God! I was confident and certain of a better grade. That better grade that would boost you up to a 5.0 CGPA. Yeah Yeah! That’s my target this semester. Shocking Right? Everyone looks and aims for the best regardless of the situation or Condition. Only fools blame life for their failure. I believe having a bad day wasn’t so much a bad thing after all. It made me learn some few lessons that would be of help to any Student going through the same fate. Tips that would help anyone throughout a test week.

Lessons Learnt:-

  • Always be prepared for the unexpected!

  • Never assume everything good would come Easy.

  • Never Blame anyone for your Ignorance.

  • Always be your own man.

  • Aim For the Best.

And there you have it folks!

God Bless you for your genuine Time!

Enjoyed having you Around!
