Brothers love!

This is the story of Alejandra, a girl who lives with her brother Carlos affected by Sanfilippo Syndrome and how this has influenced his life.

When she was born her brother was 2 years old, but over the years Alejandra has become her older sister since her brother suffers from a rare neurodegenerative disease known as Sanfilippo Syndrome or childhood Alzheimer's. This is a cruel and deadly disease where there are no survivors, the disease forces, in this case, the children to forget. They forget how to talk, eat, walk, and as a result of this they can trigger other diseases such as sleep disorders, convulsions and it damages the organs until finally in adolescence the children die. Carlos is a very special child, he can not walk and can not talk due to the complications associated with his illness but for her he is very special and not because he is sick, but because he is a different human being.

At home, parents, grandparents and uncles make that special person is the most normal, but sometimes it is difficult to hide because Alejandra realized when her brother presented some of his crises and his parents spent days in the hospital. When Alejandra is at home, she always plays with her brother Carlos, due to the immobility of her legs, she plays in the car with him as if he were a baby, they play dad and mom and at the bathroom time she also helps him. At bedtime Alejandra tells him some of her stories and her mother sings songs to him until he falls asleep. Carlos is a very cheerful boy and always has a smile on his pretty face. He recognizes everyone by the voice and she has taught him how to make small cries for each member of the family. Carlos is attending a precocious stimulation center, where he is stimulated and his lifestyle improves. There they have a great time with their classmates and their teachers. Alejandra accompanies him everywhere, she loves to see him laugh. As they get older, their health gets worse, they have to help him eat, he has a lot of diarrheal crises, they have to use oxygen cylinders at home because sometimes he does not breathe well and his stays in the hospital are now becoming more frequent. Even so, this is not an obstacle for your little sister to be able to continue making her life more or less normal.

When Carlos was born, the doctors gave him a perspective on life for a few years. However, today Carlos is 11 years old and struggles just like his family for his life thanks to the love, affection and positivism that everyone offers him. He came to this world to enlighten us life and help us to be a little better people and this he got plenty of, his parents say. Alejandra is a great example, she always has a smile for him and for everyone.
