Tomb of Cut Nyak Dien

ACEH and Sumedang have high emotional attachments because Aceh's national hero Cut Nyak Dien was once exiled to Sumedang by the Dutch government in 1906.
If a walk to Sumedang, one of the places to visit is Cut Nyak Dien's grave and Cut Nyak Dien's shelter house to know more clearly the story of Cut Nyak Dien during exile. The location to find traces of history is located not far from the Square Sumedang.
In the beginning, the Sumedang community knew Cut Nyak Dien by calling "Ibu Perbu". At that time, no people knew that Cut Nyak Dien was a great warrior of Aceh. This is due to the limitations of Cut Nyak Dien language and conditions are blind.
Cut Nyak Dien can only speak Arabic. He was called Ibu Perbu because of his expertise to teach the Qur'an. It does not occur to the mind that the teacher is a great warrior of freedom.

Through a presidential decree in 1964, Cut Nyak Dien was designated a national independence hero. It is only known for certain that the Prebu Mother known to the Sumedang community was Cut Nyak Dien when the Aceh Government conducted a search in 1960.
In this house, Cut Nyak Dien exiled with two guards. Cut Nyak Dien was handed over to the Regent of Sumedang and treated by KH Ilyas. The shelter was located not far from the Great Mosque of Sumedang. The house was a silent witness so strong and unyielding Cut Nyak Dien defended the principle of not wanting to be colonized.

Cut Nyak Dien figure is very meaningful for the citizens of Sumedang. During the exile, Cut Nyak Dien often teaches citizens to justify tajwid Qur'an and give da'wah in Arabic, "said Dada, a family of KH Ilyas who keep Cut Nyak Dien during disposal for 2 years.
The shelter has received several renovations due to the Tasikmalaya earthquake several years ago and was rebuilt with the help of the Aceh government.
