Meet Philip Urtz. He, along with his loving wife Jessica, live in Rome, New York. Jessica is a stroke nurse who cares and treats others day after day. Philip understands how stressful his wife’s job is. He knows that when she comes home from her 14-hour day shift, she’s pretty overworked and weary.

One day, Jessica came home after finishing her 14-hour shift, ready to rest. She made herself a quick sandwich for dinner and headed off to bed, recharging to get back to work the next day. It was at that moment that Philip decided to show how much he appreciated her.
He decided to go to the Facebook page Love What Matters and write just how much he loves and appreciates what she does. He began his post, writing “This is my wife Jessica having dinner after a 14 hour day. She comes home from work, has enough time to eat and get ready for bed and it’s back to work the next day for another shift”.
He continues. “She is up early to get ready for her day. She doesn’t like to be bothered in the morning and I respect that. She showers, throws her hair up, grabs her lunch, gives the dog and me a kiss and heads out the door”.

Her husband’s words can’t help but to put a huge smile on reader’s faces. But it gets better. “At work she takes care of people who are having the worst days of their lives. Strokes, Car accidents, motorcycle accidents, falls…it doesn’t matter who you are or what happened. She will take care of you”.

Being a nurse is not easy, as Philip’s words show. It is typically a job full of extremely long hours, filled with fear, tears and stress. But at the end of the day, it all makes it worth it because you are helping people who are having worse days than you.

Love What Matters is a page that promotes things that truly matter in this world. People share their heartfelt stories about real-life situations, along with some videos and photos as well.

Jessica’s career revolves around helping those who need it. Philip continues, writing “She works through lunch and rarely has time to sit. She comes home after 14 hours, takes off her shoes that have walked through blood and tears, and just wants to sit down.”

He continues, writing “I don’t ask her about her day because she doesn’t like to talk about work when she is home and that’s fine.” It takes a pretty understanding, patient and loving partner to support and love such a phenomenal woman like Jessica.
No one could really understand what it takes to get through a 14-hour-day like Jessica’s, but if you can be that person like Philip is, who listens and supports through any kind of emotion…that’s what matters.

Philip finishes his post, writing “if she does want to talk, I will listen. Sometimes she comes home happy and sometime she comes home sad. But no matter how she feels, she is always on time for her next shift”. His last sentence sums it all up “I love her with all my heart. My wife is my hero. My wife is a Stroke Nurse”.
