Ahaggar
Ahaggar (Arabic جبال هقار, Tamashek Ahaggar) highlands in the Sahara, in the south of Algeria, southeast of the city of Tamanrasset. The highest point is Mount Tahat, 2,918 m. It is also the highest point of Algeria.
Ahaggar consists of volcanic rocks. As a result of weathering, rocky outcrops of bizarre forms were formed.
The climate is sharply continental, dry and hot in summer, in winter temperatures sometimes fall below zero. Precipitation is rare.
In Ahaggar, the harshest climate in the whole of the Sahara, which creates a special climatic zone, with species of animals and plants that are not characteristic of the rest of the Sahara. In the mountains is the national park Ahaggar.
