RE: ALARM CLOCK DAWN (An Original Novel - Episode 16)

in #story8 years ago

Glad to see your continued success. Watching your posting and payouts is what inspired me to stick around and try some long form stuff on this platform. Keep it up. I know what it's like to work on developing your story telling without much reward for decades. My stories were always consolation enough to keep me going, but the financial payoff I'm starting to see here is making it easier. Thanks for blazing the trail. I'd love to have your opinion on some of my work when you get a chance. Keep it up.

Thanks, for your comment and for being one of my regular readers. After working so long towards success as a writer this still feels like a dream. In retrospect I see now that everything that I went through prior to this, both success and failures (lessons) prepared me for this moment. The main lesson I've walked away with is that the amount of work that comes with success is far greater than the work it takes to get there. It's invigorating though, it really is, it's incredible to wake up every morning being motivated and eager to see what the day brings. Don't ever give up on your writing, you have the right idea...the creation part is enough. This is the mark of a true writer when they feel that way. Our art is a gift and eventually we find people who believe in that gift as much as we do, this is when the spark happens and your work catches fire.

No fear in that, I earned my living as a theater director fifteen years, before the writing became a full time gig. Now, the goal is to move from writing what others need from me, into writing what I want to put out into the world. I have a huge catalog of "unplayed symphonies" in my hard drive, so, I'll dole those out here as long they keep reading it.
What I teach is this, the difference between a "writer" and an "author" is that the author finished something. That, in my experience as a lifelong arts professional, is that this is the dividing line between those who practice their craft, and those that dream, but never do.
I am preparing myself to accept that this platform will change eventually. I love your perspective on this, it's nice to be far enough along in life to take it for what it is today and not worry too much about what it will be in the future. I am curious, but as long as we leverage what we build here into audience, the rest can work itself out, whatever platforms there are in the future. Keep writing my friend, I'm glad you are finally getting some reward. It feels good to earn from what you feel like you were made to do, doesn't it?

It feels better than I ever imagined it would. This is such an amazing thing to be a part of. I don't think anyone truly knows were it's going but I'm enjoying the moment, for sure. Kudos to you for being able to make a living in the arts! Thank you for taking the time to leave such thoughtful comments.
