The young Marcos (Original)

in #story7 years ago

This is the story of Marcos. A young man from an island in the Caribbean, lives in a middle-class family, his parents have some hectares and a few heads of cattle. In a country that in general, is extremely poor, i.e. can be somewhat privileged due to the circumstance in which the majority of his country. His parents have been fighters, and so he has the opportunity to live better, so he has always been thankful for everything.

Lately the moods in your country, have been a little heated. The Government has in recent years become authoritarian, which has led the country to a civil war. Marcos as a university student has come out to protest, against the regime, despite living in better conditions, has a very interesting social sense, his intelligence dazzles. Besides being a political science student, in some way, he's a little involved in that world.

Since the beginning of the demonstrations, he has been on the street, in each one of them. His parents do not understand, because he is going to march, if he lives with many comforts. Marcos thinks that he cannot be indifferent to the problem, he keeps repeating “the fight is in the street”, and for that reason, he is always in it, seeking to fight for the freedom of the oppressed. His companions, see Marcos as a great leader of the student movement, a fighter and not bends to the tyranny of the government.

In recent weeks, as part of the civil war, they have been creating rebel groups, which have been making an armed struggle against the government. Marcos does not advocate armed violence, but rather by the battle of ideas. Some people call it socialist because of the way they think, but in reality, it is a liberal person.

The months have passed, the struggle has been intense. Until one day, something unexpected happened.  The rebel groups reached the estate of their parents, in search of staying in that place, by being strategic for its armed struggle. Their parents saw as their dreams went to the floor, where they were taking everything, for which they had fought, with blood, sweat and tears.

The young Marcos tried to talk to the rebels, to reflect and leave, but without any result, they had to go away from the place that belonged to them. His parents kept crying, the young Marcos was extremely furious, wise in the background, that this fight, had enemies even in his own ranks. That spoke of freedom, without measuring the consequences, the fighting was not only against the tyrannical government, but against the radicals that were part of the opposition.

Marcos and his parents went to a small apartment, which had their parents, with no money, the rebel groups had taken everything. In spite of the circumstance, Marcos remained in the fight in the street, in search of the freedom of his compatriots. Had left several times by the TV, representing the student movement, by which, had become an objective of the government. The intelligence corps, they began to persecute him everywhere and even had issued a warrant of capture against him.

Young Marcos was concerned, for what they could do to him. Therefore, I take the decision to leave the country, to go in search of international aid, for its Caribbean nation. When you are being persecuted, I could not leave for the airport. His only way out was by sea, he spent several weeks planning his trip to a place in South America, very close to his country.

The trip started without a problem, it was a trip of several days, until you reach your destination. Everything was going well, until, a heavy storm hit, and the crew fell to the sea, several of them are his friends from the university. All died, the only one who survived was Marcos, arriving on an uninhabited island, but with lots of vegetation.

But there's a problem. The young Marcos, he suffered a hard blow to the head and does not remember anything. Neither where it is, nor what it is called, and much less about the struggle it played. Marcos remained living on that island, for the rest of his days, without ever remembering who he was, nor of the struggles he was doing in his country, in search of freedom. Although in part he won his freedom, that both wanted, but not as he imagined.

Reflection.

“Some struggle for things that are not to blame, but motivated by the fact, that they do not want, that their future generations suffer the same circumstances as them”.
