6 bags, 2 backpack, 1 pram, 1 baby, 1 wife, 200KM and 3 hours later, I had finally arrived…

Yes! I have finally arrived at our holiday destination, I was beginning to feel dizzy driving for so long in this 38 degree weather with my crying baby in the back seat. As I pulled into the resort I spotted a parking space at the far end of the reception area, "Looks like a bit of a walk to the front desk" I said to my wife.

Took me some time to unload the car, got the baby in the pram, 3 bags in each hand, backpack on and started the walk to the check in building. It was a super-hot day and though the walk was not the longest, by the time I arrived at the front desk I was out of breath and sweating like a pig.

The lady at the front desk saw me and asked "First time here?” she had this weird smile as well which I couldn’t quite understand at the time. At the end of the check-in process the lady pulled out a map of the resort and pointed to our assigned room "here is your password to unlock the gate", "Unlock the gate?" I asked. "Yes, so you can drive your car to the parking space in front of your room….”.

@_@, that was the face I made when I realized that I could have simply checked in and then drive the car full of bags directly to the room, and now I have to carry all the bags and push the pram back to the car, carefully pack them in one by one again as they won't fit otherwise, strap my son back in the baby seat and then drive to the room and go through the whole unloading process again….

I sure miss the days where all I needed to bring was a backpack for a 3 day trip like this… Parents will understand the amount of stuff required when traveling with a baby. But lesson learned, will be checking if there are parking available in front of the rooms next time…
