Have you ever found yourself caught in a never-ending vicious spiral with someone with whom you continue to argue? When you inquire as to whether or not yours is also a query, you are correct.
In fact, some of us are aware that we are participating in this loop, and the conversations that result from it frequently end in dissatisfaction.
We feel furious because we believe that we have presented the other person with sensible arguments in an attempt to convince them, but that they are obstinately unwilling to comprehend what we are saying.
Because of our emotional responses, there is no longer any chance of having a sensible conversation about them. As a result of the dispute, it becomes a tug of war that neither party can win.
Do you agree that it would be nice if we could demonstrate to the opposing side how weak their own reasoning is and force them to doubt themselves?
As long as it is possible to engage in the activity of conversation with the higher part of our brain, also known as the logical side of our brain, it is considered to be a developmental action.
However, we find that either the other person or ourselves are attempting to produce an answer using our lower brain, which is simply our emotional side, without even being aware of the fact that we are doing it.
To be more specific, we find ourselves in this predicament without even realising it, and as a consequence, we either experience feelings of sadness or have a tendency to place blame on the other party.
The argument ultimately caused more harm than good, not only to us but also to the connection that we maintained. Is it possible that stories could be of assistance to us in this situation?
Since the beginning of my interest in storytelling, I have been searching for methods to employ it as a means of resolving any and all issues that arise in the realm of communication. On another occasion, I was having a conversation with a friend on a sociological problem.
At a certain point, I became aware of the tension that was present in the sentences that I was constructing. Obviously, I was under the impression that I was coerced into this predicament due to the self-assured and unquestioning demeanour of my companion.
