Would be great to read more about your discussions around religion and traditions. It's a great chance when two people knowledgeable in both cultures can sit and talk to each other!
Thankfully I journaled a lot of our conversations. The two communities really worked well together. For example, the Muslim community would have Friday services right before the Jewish community. They knew we liked our seating arranged a certain way and right before they were done, they rearranged the chairs for us. Small gestures, go a long way.
That's really impressive!
Interesting, why the two communities cannot always find this kind of respect to each other in the rest of world, but in the prison environment it really gets to this level..
