All in a Day !!

A boy named Rahul, despite being in the fifth standard, always relied on his mother to make him do his daily chores on time.

But that day it was different. When his mother, after preparing the breakfast, was walking towards his room, she heard the sound of running water from the adjacent bathroom. And yes, she was right. It was Rahul taking a shower and getting ready for school.

"Is today a special day, Rahul?" asked his mother, seeing his cheerfulness.
"Of course, Ma! Haven't I told you? We will have our annual sports day at school today. We are going to have a lot of fun."

"Always hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. Remember that. Anyway, all the best, Rahul!" his mother said.

In the school bus, he began to think about his plans for the day . how he would welcome the guest, which sports he would participate in, etc. But no sooner had his friend Neelav hopped into the bus that his face became pale. All his enthusiasm frittered away.

"How could I have forgotten to wear my white uniform today? This is a nightmare. What will I do now?" he thought.

Many conflicting thoughts flashed through his mind. He would definitely get punished as his class teacher was very strict.

Very timidly and anxiously, Rahul entered the school campus. Tears rolled down his cheeks, and his palms were wet with perspiration. Instead of going to the morning assembly, he hid under the table in his classroom.

He was happy that the assembly was over soon. After all, he could now sit in his classroom, escaping all eyes as the whole school would be busy in the playground. But just as he popped his head out from under the table, suddenly, he heard his teacher,

"Hey Rahul, is that you? Are you not participating in the sports?" .I wanted to, but.. his teacher cut him short, "Ummm! I see. You forgot to wear today's uniform! Don't worry, no one will scold you, as this day is all about you children! Now, go on, enjoy your day."

Rahul could not believe his ears and rubbing his eyes, filled with tears, he said, "Thank you, Sir, I promise I will not repeat this mistake." Saying this, he ran towards the field to join his friends.
