Resume of the adventure

The fairy tale is about the soldier who met a witch who dropped him into a hollow tree, where there were some ravenous dogs, but also a lot of money. He avoided the dogs and became rich. Eventually, the soldier gets married to the princess and the dogs are happy.

Tinderbox

A soldier came marching along the road: one, two! one two! He had his towering sister on his back and a saber beside, because he had been in the war, and now he should be home. Then he met an old witch on the road; She was so mad, her lower lip hung her down on her chest. She said, "Good evening, soldier! where you have a nice sable and a big tower sister you are a real soldier! now you get so much money you want to own! "

"Thank you, your old witch!" Said the soldier.

"Can you see the big tree?" Said the witch, pointing to the tree that stood beside them. "It's quite hollow inside! There you must creep up at the top, and you'll see a hole that lets you slide through and get deep in the tree! I'll tie you a knit for life so I can lift you up again when you shout! "

"What am I going to do in the tree?" Asked the soldier.

"Get money!" Said the witch, "you must know when you come down to the bottom of the tree, you're in a big time, it's quite bright, because it burns over a hundred lamps. Then you see three doors, you can close them. The key is in. Are you entering the first chamber, you see a large chest on the floor, on top of it is a dog; He has a pair of eyes as big as a pair of teacups, but you should not mind it! I give you my blue apron, you can spread it on the floor, go get the dog, put him on my apron, close the chest and make as many distinctions as you want. They are all of copper; but would you rather have silver, then you have to go into the next room; but there is a dog that has a pair of eyes as big as a pair of mill wheels; but do not worry about it, put him on my apron and get rid of the money! On the other hand, if you want gold, you can get it and the amount you want to wear when you enter the third chamber. But the dog who is sitting on the money box here, has two eyes, each as big as the round tower. It's a real dog, you can believe! but you should not mind it! Just put him on my apron, he will not do anything to you and take off the coffin as much gold as you want! "

"It was not that bad," said the soldier. "But what should I give you, your old witch? for something you would like to have with, I can think! "

"No," said the witch, "I do not want a single shill and you just have to take to me an old fog like my grandmother forgot when she was down there!"

"Reach! let me get the knit of life! "said the soldier.

"Here it is!" Said the witch, "and here is my blue

Now he closed the first door. Uh! There the dog was sitting with his eyes as big as teacups and glancing at him.

"You're a net guy!" Said the soldier, put him on the witch's apron and took as many copper kings as he could have in his pocket, then closed the coffin, put the dog back and went into the other room. Eja! There the dog with eyes was as big as a pair of mill wheels.

"You should not look so much at me!" Said the soldier, "you could get hurt in the eyes!" And then he put the dog on the witch's apron, but when he saw the many silver money in the coffin, he threw all the copper money he had, and filled the pocket and its tower sister with the only silver. Now he entered the third chamber! - No, that was bad! The dog in there really had two eyes as big as the round tower! Have they run around in the head like wheels.

"Good evening," said the soldier and took to the cap, for such a dog he had never seen before; but when he looked a little at him, he thought, it might be enough, lifted him down to the floor and closed the chest, no, god! preserved! where there was a lot of gold! he could buy for all of Copenhagen and sugarcrises, all tin soldiers, whips and rocking horses that were in the world! Well, that was a lot of money! "Now the soldier threw all the silver separations, he had filled his pockets and thorns with, and took gold instead, yes all the pockets, the tornster, the cap and the boots were filled so he could hardly go! now he had money! The dog put him on the chest, hit the door and shouted up through the tree:

"Lift me up now, you old witch!"

"Do you have the firewear?" Asked the witch

"That's true!" Said the soldier, "I had forgotten," and now he went and took it. The witch lifted him up, then he stood on the road, with pockets, boots, towers and a cap full of money.

"What do you want with that firewear?" Asked the soldier.

"You do not know!" Said the witch, "now you have got money! Just give me the little toy! "-

"Snap talk!" Said the soldier, "do you want to tell me what you want with it or I pull out my saber and cut your head off!"

"No!" Said the witch.

Then the soldier chopped her head. There she lay! but he tied all his money into her apron, took it like a bump on her back, put her lap in her pocket and went straight to town.

It was a lovely city and in the most beautiful tavern he took in, demanding the very best rooms and food that he loved, for now he was rich, because he had so much money

The waiter who had to brush his boots seemed to be true, it was some lousy old boots that such a rich lord had, but he had not bought anything new yet; The next day he got boots to go with and clothes that were neat! Now the soldier had become a distinguished gentleman, and they told him about all the city that was in their city and about their king and what a beautiful princess his daughter was.

"Where can you make her see?" Asked the soldier

"She's not at all to see!" They all said, "she lives in a big copper lock, with so many walls and towers! Nobody without the king dares go out to her because she is predicted to marry a fairly simple soldier and the king may not like it "

"I would like her to see!" Thought the soldier, but he could not afford it at all

Now he lived so cheerfully, went to comedy, drove in the king's garden and gave the poor so much money and it was beautifully done! He knew from old days how bad it was not to own a shilling. He was rich now, had nice clothes and got so many friends who all said he was a nice one, a real cavalier, and that might be the soldier! But when he paid out every day and did not get back in, he had no more than two shilling left and had to move away from the beautiful rooms where he had lived, and up on a tiny little chamber underneath the roof, even brushing their boots and sewing on them with a stop needle, and none of his friends came to him because there were so many stairs to go upstairs.

It was quite dark evening, and he could not even buy a light, but then he remembered that there was a little stump in the firewear he had taken in the hollow tree where the witch had helped him down. He got the lighthouse and the lump of light, but just as he fired and the sparkles flew from the flint stone, the door ran up, and the dog, having eyes as big as a few teens, as he had seen below the tree stood before him and said : "What commands my lord!

"What for something!" Said the soldier "It was a funny firewear, so I can get what I want! Get me some money! "He said to the dog, and the tip was gone! Vips was again and held a big bag full of distinctions in his mouth.

Now the soldier knew what it was like for a nice firewear! Once he hit the dog, the dog was sitting there on the coffin with copper money. He hit twice, came the one who had a giggle, and hit him three times, came the one who had gold. Now the soldier moved down to the beautiful rooms again, came in the good clothes, and immediately all his friends knew him and they loved him so much. -

Then he once thought: It's a bit ridiculous that you do not have to get that princess! she must be so lovely they are all saying! but what can it help when she has to sit in the big copper lock with the many towers all the time. "Can not I see her at all?" - Where is my firewear now! and then he struck fire, and the tip of the dog came with his eyes as big as teaspoons.

"It's right in the middle of the night," said the soldier, "but I would love to see the princess just a little while!"

The dog was immediately outside the door and before the soldier thought about it, he saw him again with the princess, she sat and slept on the dog's back and was so lovely that anyone could see

it was a real princess; The soldier could not help but kiss her, because it was a real soldier.

The dog ran back with the princess, but when it was morning, and the king and the queen poured tea, the princess said she had dreamed such a strange dream tonight about a dog and a soldier. She had been riding the dog and the soldier had kissed her.

"It was such a nice story!" Said the queen.

Now one of the old ladies should watch the princess's bed next night to see if it was a real dream or what it could be.

In the morning, the king and queen, the old court lady and all the officers came to see where the princess had been!

"There it is!" Said the king when he saw the first gate crossed.

"No, it's there, my sweet man!" Said the queen, looking at the other gate with a cross.

"But there's one and there's one!" They all said; where they saw there was a cross at the gates. Then they could see that they could not help anything.

But the queen was now a very clever wife who could do more than drive in the tub. She took her big gold saw, cut a large piece of silk cloth and then sew a little beautiful bag. She filled her with fine fine buckwheat grains, tied it on the back of the princess, and when it was done she cut a small hole on the bag so that the grains could drizzle all the way the princess came.

At night, the dog came back, took the princess on her back and ran with her to the soldier who loved her so much and would like to have been a prince to make her wife.

The dog did not notice how the grits sprinkled straight from her to the castle and to the soldier's window, where he ran up the wall with the princess. In the morning the king and the queen saw enough where their daughter had been to her and then they took the soldier and put him in the kachot

There he sat there. Uh, where it was dark and boring, and then they said to him. "Tomorrow you're going to hang." It was not funny to hear, and he had forgotten his lighthouse at the pub. In the morning, between the iron bars in the small window he could see people hurry out of the city to see him hanging, hear the drums and watch the soldiers march. All people ran away; There was also a shoemaker's string with skinny skins and slippers, he was so mad in his gallop that his one slipper flew straight to the wall where the soldier sat and looked out between the iron bars.

"Not you shoemaker string! You must not have such a rush, "said the soldier to him," there will not be anything until I come! But if you do not want to go where I have lived and pick me up my firewear, you will have four shilling. but you have to take your legs with you! The shoemaker would like to have the four shilling, and piled down after the fire, gave the soldier it, and - yes, let's hear!

Outside the city there was a big gallows wall, around the soldiers and hundreds of thousands of people. The king and queen sat on a beautiful throne right opposite the judge and all the council.

The soldier was already on the ladder, but when they wanted to knock his neck, he said that he always allowed a sinner before his punishment to make an innocent wish fulfilled. He would like to smoke a pipe of tobacco, it was the last pipe he had in this world.

Now the king would not say no, and then the soldier took his lighthouse and shot fire, one, two, three! and there were all the dogs, the one with eyes as big as the tea cups, the one with eyes like a pair of mill wheels and the one who had eyes as big as the round tower.

"Help me now that I will not be hanged! said the soldier, and then the dogs went to the judges and the whole council, took one by the legs and one at the nose and threw them a lot into the weather, so they fell down and smashed into pieces.

"I do not want!" Said the king, but the greatest dog took both him and the queen and threw them after all the others;

Then the soldiers were scared and all the people shouted: "Little soldier, you must be our king and have the lovely princess!"

Then they put the soldier in the king's cart, and all three dogs danced in front and shouted "hurray!" And the boys were wearing fingers and the soldiers presented. The princess came out of the copper castle and became queen and she liked it! The wedding lasted for eight days, and the dogs sat at the table and made big eyes.
