Applebee's, Crapplebee's (Tips & Pictures)

It was a nice night and I had a gift card to Applebee's so I'd figured @lindsayimwold and I would head on over to the local corporate chain restaurant, though it went against almost all of my food spending & ingesting principles. But hey!! It was free.

To briefly construct a background for you regarding my thoughts about food, the food industry & a human beings optimal health I shall do my best to elaborate whilst being succinct. Firstly, Americans are unhealthy and we live in an unhealthy culture, in terms of our diet. Other countries have poor diets as well but there are many countries who reject putting toxic materials into their bodies. I've done my research and refuse to give into fear tactics put on by lobbyist paid tools and am against GMO's therefore I eat NON-GMO as much as possible, which is difficult to do in the US. I'm against microwave ovens and do not believe in irradiating my food. I also eat a diet high in fiber, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, fish & white meats and low in red meat, sugars, dairy & flour.

I believe that you should be cognizant of everything you ingest because, yes the phrase 'everything can kill you' does apply in this fucked up world BUT, you're just speeding along the process by shoveling a bunch of horse shit down your throat and not being aware of the ingredients. I'm not against a persons right to choose what they want to eat & drink. I am not pushy and will never impose my thoughts & philosophies on another's eating & drinking habits unless they ask me for advice or an exchange of knowledge. Your body is YOUR temple, not mine. Just as my body is MY temple, not yours. And lastly, I'm not against going out to eat at a restaurant that doesn't cater to my personal requirements if it's a social gathering or business meeting....I'll usually find something on the menu that comes close to my dietary needs OR I'll just say 'screw it' and be 'normal' for the night and eat whatever. So, now you know my philosophy on food. Here we go Applebee's.....

What's up with all the damn menus!?! Good God! There's a regular menu. A suggested dishes menu....and then 3 menus of their top loaded specials. Plus, the drinks menu. The main menu didn't have prices next to the drinks, which is hysterical because....it's FUCKING APPLEBEE'S not some fancy ass restaurant where there's a dress code to get in.

Cheap burger Mondays! Now that's what I like to see. Chain restaurant. Against my dieting principles. 'Screw it'. I'm getting a burger! Uh oh......

Now this is my biggest gripe. HOLY SHIT! Our waitress was super cool and I'd asked her about the miniature digital tablet sitting in front of us. We could order off of it, change our order, play games, summon the waiter/waitress, file complaints & pay our bill. Our waitress even told us that at the end of the meal, we'd have to pay on this little tablet or else she'd get in trouble. Wow....nice job Applebee's. Way to take the human element out of humanity AND work towards making waiters and waitresses obsolete. This is where I say, 'EAT MY ASS APPLEBEE'S'. Rather, DineEquity the company who owns & operates Applebee's, their board of directors & their Interim CEO Richard Dahl....'Eat My Ass!', 'Suck My Dick' & 'Go Fuck Yourselves'. A little too harsh? Nah...

I used to be a bartender/waiter & I still work in food service here and there. It's fun to have a rapport with customers. It's good for humans to interact with one another. For lonely people, sometimes the only human connection they have in a day is with their waiter or waitress when they go out to eat. And....I like talking to servers too. I don't want to be sitting ordering and paying off of some tablet. I'd like to.....wait this is pretty radical shit here.....TALK TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.

Finally, our drinks have arrived....

Good drinks. A bit sugary. I've calmed down a little but I'm still George Carlin & Jack Torrance mad about this tablet situation. Anyway, hopefully the burgers will be good....

They were great! Both burgers were really great....

And I ate all of mine....

In conclusion, for a meal at a crappy chain restaurant, it was very good. I might have considered going back to Applebee's but because of this whole attempt at deleting waiters & waitresses in favor of a digital tablet, I will not be returning. Maybe it impacts the bottom line of this mega corporation, maybe not. Maybe it makes a difference, maybe not. Either way....I do not recommend going there unless your meal is free. I'd opt for a nice, local small business or cook a meal at home.
