RE: How To Deal With That First, Rough Morning In Heaven...
There's a few misconceptions to clear up...
1.) Our New Heaven and New Earth (Rev 21:1), what I call "the Second Universe", happens after the 1,000-year Millennial Reign as well as the Final Battle and the Great White Throne Judgement. According to Revelations, we do know New Jerusalem exists, but it will be huge

There are "the nations" mentioned as well, but we don't know if there will be additional cities. There will be no Sun or Moon, but everything lighted by God's presence (Rev 21:23; 22:5), possibly no oceans (Rev 21:1), but a river coming out of New Jerusalem (Rev 22:1-2).
2.) We will have new bodies, similar to Jesus Christ's body after His resurrection. We will not need to eat (but we can), nor sleep. We will either be able to teleport and/or phase around matter, and we will be filled with God the Father's agape love that overwhelms any other kind of love.
3.) We won't be bored because we will be allowed to see God, and since God is infinite, we will never stop learning to be more like Him.
Now, Jesus told His disciples that "His Father's house has many mansions" (John 14:2-3), and that the "meek will inherit the Earth" (Matt 5:5). There is also a choir around God's throne in New Jerusalem (Rev 4:11), as well as the human prophets and disciples in permanent praise and angels acting as ushers. So when you're not in the choir for a turn, or living in your mansion for a turn, you can wander around the New Earth. Jesus wanted to be with His friends, the disciples, and wanted to talk with them. I think we will be the same.
4.) The dead, the evil humans will also be there in the Lake of Fire, outside New Jerusalem (Isaiah 66:24; Rev 22:15), unable to see or move or speak but also not bored because of their torment in their new, eternal bodies. We will know who each individual is but no longer care about them.
So in my opinion, we will need engineers and builders to rebuild Earth after the Last Battle. Make the foods we've always enjoyed, and share them with others (like coffee). Build the houses outside of New Jerusalem that we've always wanted. Talk with our saved friends, and make new friends. See all the animals, birds, and creatures on Earth. For eternity.
