The Magic From Within
There is a forest, somewhere in the earth, filled to the brim with magic. It's said that the source of their magic comes from deep within the planet itself. Inhabiting this forest were beings made of magic. These beings worked hard to keep their forest hidden from the views of mankind who's been thought to have the intentions of harming or stealing their source of magic. They decided to make a force field to keep out any humans.
Scouts were sent out to patrol the woods every day. One night, a scout heard sniffling in the distance and went to investigate. There she found a young girl who seemed lost and had scraped her knee. The scout kneeled down to help the girl, waving her hand over her knee, healing it instantly. The girls' eyes were wide in wonder. Knowing she couldn't leave the girl alone, unattended, the scout decided to take her through the force field, and into her home.
As they entered the scouts home, she decided to make tea and talk with the girl.
"What's your name?" she started.
"My name's Lily, thank you for helping me. What's your name?" Lily replied.
The scout smiled warmly and said, "My name is not used very much where I come from, but it's Rowan. I'm curious as to why you were out so late."
"I was out picking herbs for my mother who is very sick. The doctor said that she wouldn't be able to recover..." She said quietly. She then stared at Rowan in wonder, "How did you do that? You healed my cut so quickly, it was like magic!"
Rowan laughed at her enthusiasm, "It's just something that my kind is well known for."
"Maybe you could do that for my mom..." Lily muttered quietly.
They continued to talk until Lily felt tired and wanted to rest. After bringing her to bed, Rowan decided to read. As she was nearing the end of her book, she heard a knock on her door. She opens it and is greeted by the forests leader, an elegant stag.
"I've heard that a human girl has been brought into our protection, is this true?" The stag asks, tilting his head.
"Yes sir, it's true," Rowan replies.
"How intriguing..." The stag says to himself, barely above a whisper.
"What is sir?" Rowan asks curiously.
"Only those with magic are able to enter the force field that we've put up," he answered.
For a moment they sat in silence, thinking about what this could mean. Could it possibly be true that a human girl has magic inside of her? Maybe they were wrong about the humans.
The next day, Rowan accompanies Lily to her home. There she met with her parents and gave them some of her special salves to treat Lily's mother. They were in wonder at the results and thanked Rowan profusely. Rowan explained to them that magic truly is real, you just have to believe in it like Lily does.
