The Ghost of Benjamin Franklin

in #story7 years ago (edited)

Hello my Steemian friends have I a personal spirit meeting story for you and I hope you enjoy it.

I was teaming with my wife and we ended up making a delivery in Philadelphia a few miles south of Independence Mall. It was probably Stouffer's Frozen dinner entrees out of a freezer storage facility up in Clearfield, Utah. It turned out they did not have a load for us and we would have to sit a few days. We were used to it.

Our tractor had a big screen in it and we played video games on networked computers run off of a diesel generator. We looked at the map of Philadelphia the next morning. It was around the Fourth of July. It just so happened that we were parked in the industrial park within sight of a street that Teed from a dead end north. On the map it went straight to Independence Mall. We decided to walk there.

It was a pretty walk and we arrived on foot around noon. We saw all the sights of the mall. It was packed with people. It was really one of the most interesting accidental finds that ever happened in my life. We were so excited and filled with energy because this was like a once in a lifetime chance.

We saw Betsy Ross's house. It isn't very wide to look at maybe 35 feet at the most but it goes straight back for a long, long ways. We looked at all sorts of exhibits, we went on World War II ships. The line to Liberty Bell was very long so we waited.

We went to the tavern where the revolutionaries gathered and ate and drank Samuel Adams beer. Seems there was a few war memorials there and so we saw those.

The day was getting on and many of the people had left. So we decided to run over to the Liberty Bell because there was no line now but when we arrived the guards were locking the doors. There was a window that looked right down at the bell and it could be completely seen and the guards let us look at it for a good ten to fifteen minutes.

Next we went to this place where the first congress met and it was about like this, the light. We stood right in front of the statue there in the picture and moved back to the furthest columns to lean back and we were to the left. We were able to see through the arches back to the woods or treed park behind when I noticed this actor that looked like Benjamin Franklin in period clothing. My wife noticed him too but I saw him first so I took some pictures with a digital camera.

Then, he started to walk to the left and we followed him because I wanted a frontal shot of him. He came to the edge of the arches and I said, "Sir could we get a picture of you facing us?" There was no one else around. Then he jumped as I mean he jumped about sixty feet back in one step. Then farther and I managed to get two pictures but they did not turn out because he was so far away by then and it was getting on, a little darker each moment.

Yes, it phased us. But next we went to Christ's Church. It would be the very last place to which we would go before we left.

We were the only ones in the graveyard and we were looking over the Graves of Benjamin Franklin and his wife Deborah

when his head popped up out of the grave and looked at us and we jumped back.

"So you can see me." he said, "I will talk with you later." I took a picture but it was too dark and did not come out. A guard approached and asked us to leave because he had to lock the gate. This is exactly what he looked like but in color.

It was one of the best interactions with a spirit that I ever had and was a long relationship. Who knows he still might show up again sometime in the future.
