Deep in darkness of the night in the Kalahari Desert a seal team made contact, “Whale One this is Dolphin Scout Seven. Prepare to Copy, Over.”
“Dolphin Scout Seven this is Whale One. Send it, over.”
“Whale One this is Dolphin Scout Seven, Pillars are gone. There is no sign of anything ever being here other than the circles, over.”
“Dolphin Scout Seven this is Whale One. Maintain positions and keep area secure. Send status reports on the hour. Do you copy, over?”
“Whale One this is Dolphin Scout Seven, Roger, Dolphin Scout Seven Out.”
“Sir,” A lieutenant said to General Ricks while they flew in the Chinook.
“Yes,” Ricks responded.
“He is on his way sir,” The lieutenant said and then handed the general a piece of paper containing the intelligence reports from the Kalahari Desert. Ricks read the paper and said, “No lieutenant, he is already here, somewhere in the United States and coming to kill every last one of us.”
“Yes sir.”
“Lock and load!” Ricks ordered, “The LZ is hot! Notify all units to be prepared for battle, be ready to take evasive action and to deploy according to plan as we approach the LZ. We will win this!”
“Falcon Five is taking fire sir! They landed and deployed at these coordinates.” A lieutenant handed Ricks a piece of paper.
“Drop that box here!” Ricks ordered. A C130 flying high pushed the box out the back at the ordered coordinates. It fell down toward the earth.
“Box is dropped.” Prescott said.
“Adjust our deployment to ring that box.” Ricks ordered.
“Yes sir.” Prescott gave the necessary orders and the Chinook banked right and began a descent. “100 seconds to deploy! Asmodeus will be in front of us as we deploy!” Prescott yelled.
“This is it!” Ricks yelled, “Stand and ready for combat according to plan!” All the soldiers stood and the Chinook spun 180 degrees as the back gate dropped.
The Chopper hit the ground with a jolt. “GO!” Ricks yelled and soldiers ran out the back and then split off to the right and the left. As Ricks walked out of the Chinook, Asmodeus stood a thousand yards distant as big as a skyscraper.
Asmodeus smashed Falcon Two while it landed. Most inside were out of the chopper as it burst into flames. The survivors immediately opened fire on the giant. Asmodeus screamed.
Ricks saw the ‘chute open on the box about 500 feet off the ground and Asmodeus saw it too. He ran to where it would fall and grabbed it out of the air before it could hit the ground. He ripped the chute off. Then he roared and began to shrink. The box was made of the same material as the vortex pieces.
Like he had been wounded to the death, Asmodeus screamed and threw the box from his hand with so great a force that it burrowed into the desert floor like a huge artillery shell and made a crater from the explosion of force that shook the earth. Several of the soldiers were obliterated on impact,
“I shall destroy all of you for this!” Asmodeus roared.
“This is Falcon One. Herd him under fire to the southwest, to coordinates Tango,” Ricks said into a radio handset. The soldiers that now ringed Asmodeus moved in the desired direction as one. Asmodeus, shrinking, tried to break out of the ring many times. He was brave and courageous Ricks thought. Not what Ricks expected at all. Nevertheless, Asmodeus gave ground in the direction Ricks wanted him to go. Slowly, as Asmodeus shrank, the ring closed upon him.
After several more minutes, Asmodeus was the size of a man and the eight with the pieces held out between themselves and Asmodeus were only steps away.
Asmodeus tried to lunge at them, to hit them but when he did they touched him with the piece and now he shrieked.
They threw a net laced with the material from the pieces over Asmodeus and drew it closed. More nets were thrown on Asmodeus, eight in all so that not much of him could be seen through the holes in the netting.
The eight then picked up the nets binding Asmodeus and dragged him over to a spot where General Ricks waited.
“Asmodeus is ready to take Captain Weeks!” Ricks yelled three times as loud as he could.
Rephael appeared out of thin air, “Drag him right through here!”
“You Fools!” Asmodeus yelled, “I will destroy you all. My children come forth and set me free!”
Rephael heard gunfire behind him, from the in between and he watched as the spawn expanded the nets around Asmodeus. “Throw him in before they escape the nets!”
“Forward!” Ricks ordered the eight captains who dragged Asmodeus. The nets became heavier and Asmodeus was harder to drag as the nets expanded. Ricks and others grabbed the net and pulled it into the in between, some twenty in all.
The gateway sealed behind them as Rephael had hold of the nets as well, “Use your regular weapons against the spawn!” He shot into the net, “Drag them this way!”
The nets were quite large, could burst any second as spawn inside were shot and died. They were not affected by the pieces as limbs tore through the netting and clawed at the soldiers.
There were more spawn in the in between coming out of the box. Rephael grabbed the box and threw it out the portal which they dragged in Asmodeus. The portal closed. Then he took shots at the free spawn with his pistol.
There were more than a hundred free spawn attacking. Fortunately, many of the soldiers had automatic weapons with grenade launchers and they kept the spawn at bay. Still, two of the soldiers were ripped to shreds, including one of the captains who held a piece. Their numbers were down to twenty-two.
The soldiers were still outnumbered four to one as they dragged the net. “Someone grab that piece!” Rephael ordered. A soldier pried the piece out of the captain’s hand that had held it. Nobody was attached to the hand.
Outside the in between, on the floor of the Nevada desert, spawn spewed from the box in the thousands.
Inside in the place between the universes, Asmodeus yelled from inside the bag of nets, “Have no thought for your selves my children! Attack as one and I will heal thee as new!”
From all directions, the spawn charged the remaining soldiers who dragged the nets. They tried to break out of the inside of the nets as well.
