In his office, on Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, Ricks looked up from his computer as Colonel Cannon entered. "So," General Ricks asked, "Did we find anything on this Janet Flynn?"

"Sir, the autopsy is finished and she is not Janet Flynn. The woman is a Jane Doe and her DNA does not match the DNA of Janet Flynn. She was living in Janet Flynn's apartment but Janet Flynn is missing. Apparently, Janet Flynn called her work two months ago and quit by phone. She never cleaned up her office, just walked off and left everything. Her relatives received a phone call that she was taking a trip overseas to Brazil and would be gone two or three months, maybe six. The relatives have not heard from her in the entire time. She has never applied for a passport. She did not apply for a visa. There is no record of her purchasing any ticket on any means of transportation to Brazil or anywhere else." Colonel Cannon answered.

"Jane Doe was driving Janet Flynn's car?"

"Jane Doe looks very similar to Janet Flynn. She has the same height, weight, hair color, eyes, with skin just a shade darker. Jane Doe leased the car from Ace Car Rental of Las Vegas, and had the Identification of Janet Flynn, including what looks like her wallet, bank cards, social security card, credit cards, and family pictures."

"Was anything found that could identify Jane Doe? Have her relatives and friends been shown her picture?"

"Jane Doe landed in the canyon on her face. We were able to get pictures of her from the apartment security camera system and yes we have shown the picture to the relatives, friends, even her fiancée. No one knows Jane Doe nor have they ever seen her although each person thought it was her."

"If Jane Doe looked so close to Janet Flynn, how do we know she is not Janet Flynn?"

"Sir, two reasons, one the mother came in to identify the body and Jane Doe had a birthmark shaped like a triangle just below her left buttocks on the top of the back of her thigh. The mother stated, a Mrs. Elaine Flynn, that her daughter had no such birthmark. She had pictures to prove it and had a lock of Janet Flynn's hair from her senior prom. There is no match Sir."

"Excellent Colonel Cannon, do we think Jane Doe is an American?"

"We do not think Jane Doe is an American, Sir because she is most certainly either native Egyptian or Persian. The DIA and the FBI are checking all inbound tourists for as far back as necessary and the State Department is reviewing all visas issued until this woman is identified. Oh Sir, she had a suitcase with two million dollars in twenties in the car. And then there was this box in the wrecked Ford Explorer. Apparently, she forgot it when she jumped out." Colonel Cannon briefed and then he pulled the box out of a large satchel bag.

"Has anyone identified this writing, Colonel?"

"Two of the languages are Sumerian and Babylonian, with a third unknown script. As of yet, no one has figured out how to open the box and as you can see, the box was not damaged in the wreck. No one knows what it is made of yet. The Sumerian and Babylonian say, 'Gates of Hell.'"

"Do we even want to open it after what we have seen so far? What do you mean no one knows what the box is made of, didn't we analyze it yet?"

"It has been tentatively analyzed, Sir, but it cannot be scratched or marked. They have hit it with a laser, tried to x-ray it, tried an oxy-acetylene torch and several other methods including drilling the box with a diamond drill bit and it absorbs the energy. They even tried smashing it with a three hundred ton press. It broke the press."

"Amazing!"

"What is even more amazing Sir, is each time they did something to it, it doubled in size. It's original dimensions when found were 40 mm by 40 mm by 10 mm."

"But it's at least 18 inches by 18 inches by 4 and a half inches."

"Yes Sir," Colonel Cannon answered.

A captain entered and handed the Colonel three sheets of paper. Reading the first, "The third language is a Semitic derivative of ancient indo-european and says the same as the Babylonian and the Sumerian in addition to this, 'To be opened by Nergal.' He is the God of Death, Sir."

"To be opened by the God of Death? She expected the God of Death to come to her? Here?"

"She has been identified, Nelika Mashgahdi, a world renowned archeologist from Iraq/Iran and was given a research visa to explore the petroglyphs in the Utah and Nevada deserts. She has been here for six years and published many papers on her finds."

"And also calling forth these vortexes?"

"-And calling forth Asmodeus Sir."

"And the third paper Colonel?"

"Apparently, she has a very large residence in St. George, Utah and 12 other archaeologists and graduate students live with her. Each has been taken into custody and we have found some very interesting things there, including the body of Janet Flynn."
