The history of roses in myths and legends.

The newlyweds in ancient Rome wore wreaths of roses, but the fashionable mode for roses was introduced by Emperor Nero. He was so fond of these flowers that he used roses everywhere. During his feasts, he sprinkled the table and guests with rose petals, wore pink wreaths and necklaces on the guests and even on slaves. And there are rumors that even when he went to the beach, for him specially sprinkled the surface of the sea with pink petals. By the way, then the roses were an incredible luxury and they were specially brought to Rome from the Arab countries. Nero loved roses so much that he added them to his food, made drinks from them. During his reign throughout Rome, the table smelled of roses. And the gladiators at that time were buttered with roses, to make themselves invincible.

Во время своих пиршеств он посыпал стол и гостей лепестками роз, надевал на гостей и даже на рабов розовые венки и ожерелья. И ходят слухи о том, что даже когда он ходил на пляж, для него специально посыпали поверхность моря розовыми лепестками. К слову, тогда розы были невероятной роскошью и их специально в Рим доставляли из Арабских стран. Нерон так любил розы, что добавлял их в пищу, делал из них напитки. Во время его правления по всему Риму стол запах роз. А гладиаторы в то время умащивались маслом из роз, чтобы сделать себя непобедимыми.

Vishna woke her up with a kiss and made her his wife. And since Lakshmi became the goddess of beauty, and the rose became the symbol of the divine mystery, which is guarded by thorns.

  Есть так же очень интересная индийская легенда. В этой легенде создатель мира Брахма поспорил с защитниками мира Вишну о том, какой цветок красивее - роза или лотос?  Вишну защищал Лотос, но прежде он никогда не видел роз, и когда он увидел розу, он мгновенно сдался. За это Брахма вознаградил его - создал прекрасную богиню,которая появилась из 108 больших и 1608 маленьких лепестков роз и он назвал ее Лакшми. Вишна разбудил ее поцелуем и сделал ее своей женой. И с тех пор Лакшми стала богиней красоты, а роза стала символом божественной тайны,которую охраняют шипы.

And later this law was transformed into something like a wedding tradition. If a man gives his woman a rose, then she should give her heart in return. And now in many provinces of India there is a tradition to ask the woman's hands with the help of this flower.

   It should also be noted that in India, the traditional wedding dress for women is not white, but red, perhaps this tradition also has a connection with roses.

   Розы настолько обожествляли в Индии, что раньше существовал даже закон, что если человек преподносит правителю розу, то он он может просить его о чем угодно. И позже этот закон трансформировался в нечто вроде свадебной традиции. Если мужчина дарит своей женщине розу, то она в ответ должна отдать свое сердце. И сейчас во многих провинциях Индии существует традиция просить руки женщины с помощью этого цветка. 

   Стоит так же отметить, что в Индии традиционный свадебный женский наряд не белого цвета, а красного, возможно эта традиция так же имеет связь с розами.
