      Nike woke up, tossing around her bed, she couldn't sleep well throughout the night, the mosquitoes qround the School had decided to hold a round table meeting in the hostel and they decided to use her bed space. She rubbed the bite marks all over her body, trying not to scratch it. She made it a mental task to remember to get herself a anti malaria drug anytime she goes out. She got down slowly from the ache, she strectched loudly as she stood up to urinate.

          "Amaka, stood up o, rise and shine" she shouted loudly into Amaka's ears and running into the bathroom as soon as she saw her stir. She hummed one of westlife's popular songs as she took her bath, the event of the past year flooded her memory; Segun's betryal, Rukayat's death, the STD, she wondered how she went through all that and didn't become dsyfunctional. She was happy when Rita passed out of the school in flying colours, atleast that means not seeing her face in school anytime soon except if she comes for clearance.Nike's happiness dwindled when she remembered that she and amaka had just one more year to spend in school, how was she going to cope?

"Nike! Today is Tolani's birthday,don't forget that she asked us to join her in the preparation"

" But you were the one that said we should not go early na"She replied, stepping out of the bathroom.

" Even if I say that, you should know that I might change my mind."

"Well, I already made plans"

" Plans, when did you start making plans without me"

"See me see trouble o"Nike said clapping her hand in amazement.

"Please na, you can shift your plans till tomorrow" she pleaded pouting childishly.Nike rolled her eyes "ohk, you win but you have to feed me this morning". "Thank you so much"she said excitedly as she hurried to the kitchen.

    The intensity of the sun almost made Nike regret stepping out of the house, she wished she had listened to Amaka's advice that she should put on a light cloth,she had sweat dripping down her back and her face to pay for her disobedience while Amaka looked comfortable. Nike's mouth dropped in amazement as the bike dropped them infront of Tolani's house, it looked like the houses that exist only in hollywood movies; pristine, clean and elegantly beautiful.

" I know right, I got that feeling the first time I came here" Amaka nudged her inside. Several range of cars were packed inside when she entered, she wished she had taken her time to dress up. She looked at her relection in one of the sliding windows that decorated the house, she shook her head dejectedly as she saw the image that stared back at her.

"He he, enter na, you look good na,only that you would have looked better if you were dressed the way I asked you too"she said jokingly.

        Nike slapped her hands playfully as they entered the house. The exterior beauty of the house couldn't be compared to the interior architectural design of the house. She walked with her hands by her side, scared to touch anything. She was lost in the splendor of the house that she didn't notice Tolani walk in Until she hugged her.

"Hey baby, I am happy you made it here" Tolani smiled as she led them to the Kitchen "I was scared you guys would bail on me" she continued.

"Hey guys, this are my close friends"she announced to those in the kitchen. Nike put on a smile that grew thin every minute as they welcomed them. She sat on one of the stool in the kitchen as she watch them talk noisily among themselves, Amaka soon joined them leaving her to herself . Her gaze wondered around the kitchen, noticing the expensive silver ware that littered every inch of the kitchen, Tolani's parents must be loaded to be able to afford such a place" she thought. She hoped the food would be sweet with in manner in which everyone was talking over the food.

" She just asked you a question" someone tapped her shoulders pointing to one of the girls. " I am sorry, I was not following the conversation" she said apologetically."It is okay, I was just asking what your opinion is on the important of sex in a relationship" she answered. Nike looked away, she wasn't expecting such question."Hmmm I feel sex is sacred so it shouldn't be engaged in by people who do not have a destination yet. It shouldn't be done because you want to keep your man close but because it is the right thing to do" she stopped noticing people's attention were on her.

" Continue, we want to hear all you have to say"

Nike swallowed hard, the memories of segun flooding back, this were emotions she had tried forget, memories that she would give anything to be free from "from experience I know sex doesn't keep a man, he would stay if he wants to" she concluded, blinking rapidly to keep the tears from dropping. She walked out of the eoom briskly before the tears fell, as she turned to enter the bathroom, she ran into a solid broad chest.

"Woah, woah, careful maam" the man said steadying her by the shoulders

She glanced up to apologize only to stop mid sentence, the brownest eyes stared back at her.
