World War 3: Oceania vs Eurasia & Eastasia

in #story6 years ago

Strange how George Orwells novel 1984 is paralleling many of today's global events even though it was wrote in 1949. In the novel 1984, the world is divided into three states: Oceania(America), Eastasia(China), and Eurasia(Russia). Oceania is constantly at war with one of these states while at peace with the other. For the majority of the book, Oceania is at war with Eastasia and is allied with Eurasia.

The area of the dispute, lies "between the frontiers of the super-states", is " roughly equivalent to the Middle East. This area is fought over during the perpetual war among the three superstates, one of which sometimes controls vast swaths of the disputed territory, only to lose it again. The reason that the three superstates seek to control the area is to harness the large vast resources within the region.

Fake News is used in Oceania, the Ministry of Truth rewrites history to make it appear that the current state of affairs is the way it has always been. Creates new historical accounts and documents. All old contradictory information is destroyed in the memory hole. War is not a war in the traditional sense but simply exists to use up resources and keep the population in line.

Oceania (Where the story takes place) is all the Americas, Australia and UK. Eurasia is the rest of Western Europe and Russia and Eastasia is China included all the surrounding states.
