A story about my cat

in #story7 years ago

This is Jarmo, he's a former feral I bought from a shelter. He lived most of his life as a homeless, which isn't too easy here in Sweden during the winter.

I don't know how old he is but when I bought him from the shelter he had been there for a long time 'cause he was so shy and would hiss at everyone. Everyone loved him to bits though.

He hasn't got many teeth left, within a year from when I got him he had already had two teeth surgeries. It all began with me finding a tooth which had simply fallen out.

He also developed allergies which resulted in him losing patches of fur. After excluding some proteins from his diet, we managed to fix that.

Despite having been homeless and probably treated very badly he's made so much progress, he's gone from hiding under my bed to sleeping beside me in it and he loves to get cuddles. He still doesn't like other people though.

This little warrior has been through so much and I love him no matter what.

This monday we went to the vet again and realised his remaining teeth are looking really bad, he will have to go through another surgery. They also did x-rays on him and he's got arthritis and it's really bad. He's probably been in pain for quite some time and I'm so mad at myself for not realising.

But I'm glad we checked, now he's on pain medication and I already feel like he's happier than before.

This is him with his best friend, my older cat Zingo. He loves him more than anything.

He's also a very good model

This is me and him a few years back at the animal hospital. I just hope that this surgery will be the last for him since he deserves to be happy. Thanks for reading, if you want to get a cat or other animal, please consider getting one from a shelter. If you live in Stockholm you should check out and support Stockholms Katthem, without them this little guy would probably still be homeless or even dead.  Sorry for the crappy quality in some of the photos...

The cat's clavicle, or collarbone, does not connect with other bones but is buried in the muscles of the shoulder region. This lack of a functioning collarbone allows them to fit through any opening the size of their head.
