Five hours it took, five overstretched hours it took to get from London Victoria to Bath, the delays tore at my patience like the neighbour's cat clawed its way into my rubbish bins. Three hours overdue, I was late, she was going to kill me.
"Late again!" she was going to say "What's you excuse this time?" she'd inquire. "Forget it, I don't want to hear about it. " she would say.
