Is Sisyphus happy? In the modern world, they look at him as a rebel.

in #story7 years ago

The famous Renaissance painter Titian /Tiziano Vecellio/ is the author of the spectacular scenic canvas "Sisyphus punishment". But not only Titian, but many other artists, sculptors and poets, have recreated the image of the ancient hero. In ancient Greek mythology, Sisyphus is the king of the Corinthians, who gave to people the secrets of the gods of Olympus and he was punished for his boldness. In the course of time, the attitude towards this hero suffers such a development that today he is more sympathetic than a dislike of the craftiness and deceit he has shown. More and more people consider Sisyphus to be unjustly punished by superstitious gods, even a hero dared to oppose them. In Titian's canvas, the muscular body of Sisyphus seemed to merge with the huge stone block into a single monolith, leaving it with no hardness. The image of Sisyphus embodies the endless and useless hard physical labor and gives the name of the byzantine Sisyphean laborious.

The myths usually reveal the man's ideas about the world around him. The Greeks explain everything that happens to the will of the gods. According to them the gods are entitled to everything, and their will must always be respected. Very often they ask questions about the meaning of human existence. One such myth revealing these thoughts is "The Myth of Sisyphus," in which the main topic is about human existence-meaningful existence or suicide is the best starting point. The emerging problem in this myth is, "Did Sisyphus do the right thing by giving immortality to the people or his betrayal to the gods and the punishment that followed is just" Sisyphus, on the one hand, is noble because it wants to help mankind to survive longer, but on the other hand, by betraying the gods he has negative qualities, "betrayal" is quite a sin. Sisyphus appears as a symbol of a martyr, an active man and a rebel. He wanted to oppose the strict rules of the gods. After he understands the secret of immortality, he gave it to people, even though he knows the gods will take revenge for it.

One of the reasons why Sisyphus does so is to show the gods that not only they can be immortal. According to him the life of the humiliated and afflicted man is absurd. For him there is no sense beyond life. For the "hero" it is more important to find some sense of existence and to leave some trace of humanity, even though he appreciates the absurdity he does. He basically rests on his pride and his thought of justice. Sisyphus is one of the many victims of injustice has dreams and hopes, but almost every hope is more like a Hand of death. After linking Thanatos in chains, Sisyphus makes a great gift to the people - gives them immortality. But Ares releases the naughty Thanatos who revenges by sending Sisyphus' soul into the "shadow kingdom," but that is not enough penalty. He has to push a rock forever to the top of a mountain that rolls every time back to the starting point. Just as he thinks he'll get to the top, and that his grief will come to an end. Stop... everything starts from the beginning his daughter Sisyphus, obediently obeys the will of the gods.

What is better, to carry the load unmolested, or to fight our fate or, as they say, what you are meant to do. If you leave the stream, is there any "fear", "unresolved problem", to startle you as you pass through a small dark intersection and a street cat to ominously erase. And if you struggle, and you dump life in pieces, in a moment you see yourself in the mirror, and you understand that you have broken pieces of your body that you have dreamed of your own eyes that the time you had to set aside to enjoy the " things ", you poured in vain struggles, because that stone is actually rolling and it stops and stops right up to the top of your shoe, or it passes through your fingers ... Saturn is retrograde in the lion. Is the rock weighing or ... you're getting used to it? Metal shoes will help? Can Saturn's Wall Be Overcome ...

Fascinating discussion. I've always laughed when hearing about how the boulder rolls down the hill the moment Sisyphus just manages to get it to the very top.

Yes there is kind of irony :D
