White Cassie - Day 275 - 365 Days of Writing : Challenge

in #story6 years ago

Kofi filled his lungs with fresh country air. He had missed this. He wasn't particularly happy to be back here, but it's great to be back home. Even though he had to start life from scratch, it is nice to know he had something to go back to. He had to live with the stares and gossips from other members of his family.

He now loved the fact that he was African. He could move to his family house and stay as long as possible and not feel out of place. He was just grateful his father wasn't alive to see his fall ftom grace to grass. His father had always warned him about white women. He recalled how time and time again, his father had told him, "don't get involved with a white woman. I will find you a wife here if you want me to, but white woman are dangerous."

Kofi remembers hearing stories during his childhood of how white women reported their husbands and had them deported just to take over their fortune. He never thought Cassie could do that to her. Cassie seemed to be more in love with him than he was with her. Sweet Cassie couldn't have than that.

Here he was, back home after being in the States for 15years with nothing to show for it. His documents had expired 10years ago. He had tried to marry Cassie for a greencard since he met her, but she's always had an excuse. After he had trusted her and made known to her his finances, he was arrested mysteriously.

Before he could say jack, he had been deported, leaving everything he owned in the United States of America. There was nothing he could do about it. How he wished he had never met Cassie. He walked back to the house, determined to make something of his life.
