The Turned-Table || Episode Two

in #story6 years ago (edited)

It's great to have you here again. This is an emotional story that will leave you in suspense while filling your bank of knowledge with more lessons.

This is the link to the first episode to help you understand the story better here

Ada entered the bathroom and washed herself thoroughly before proceeding to wash her clothes. As she washed, she prayed in her heart that God should make her stay with Oriaku a peaceful one.

Meanwhile, Oge, Oriaku's neighbour had seen Ada and her uncle come into the house and had also seen the uncle leave without Ada. Oge guessed this must be the girl that was to help Oriaku in the house and decided to go and confirm.

Oge is a married woman who leaves alone with her children after her separation from her husband who still sends money for the children's upkeep. Her husband couldn't cope with her bad behaviour. Even after several warnings, Oge would still gossip about everyone and everything. The husband had settled many fights between his wife and some persons she had gossiped about. She could walk a long distance tying only a wrapper across her chest as she moved from one of her 'gossip centre' to another.

"Oriaku! Oriaku!", Oge called as she entered Oriaku's house through the back door. She met Oriaku feeding Bob her baby in the kitchen. Oriaku pushed a kitchen stool to her to sit on while she continued feeding her baby.

"Who were those people that entered your house earlier today?", Oge asked, drawing her stool a bit closer to Oriaku.

"Eh, he came to drop off my new house help", Oriaku said, emphasizing the 'house help'.

"Oh, I see", Oge said, trying hard not to show her envy. She had broken her marriage without any hope of reconciliation and could not stand to see her neighbour living happily with her family.

"Where is she? Can't she come to greet me?", Oge continued.

"I asked her to wash herself and her filthy belongings before any other thing", Oriaku said.

"That is good. You remember those things I told you about house helps? Don't allow her too much breathing space or else she would grow into a rebellious one", Oge said/

"How do you manage to know all these things, Oge. You have never had a house help yourself"

"Wait till she snatches your husband before you take action. Besides I have heard many ugly stories about them", Oge retorted. She stood up, took the plate of peanuts Oriaku placed on the table and starting helping herself while Oriaku was lost in thought. Oriaku didn't want anything to break her home and she made up her mind there and then to handle Ada with iron fists.

Ada who had just finished washing and was heading towards her aunt to inquire where to dry the clothes heard all that was said. She quietly thought of what to do. Should she travel back to the village? She didn't have any money on her. Different thoughts raised through her mind and she decided on one as she stood up and headed towards the main door.

Watch out for the next episode of The Turned-Table.

Until then, be good and continue doing great things!

Hi @floxycool, I have curated this today but please only use images that are free to use. Your first one is not and that is why is has crosses across the image. Check out pixabay just do not use the ones at the top. It is also good to reference them.

Really good point. Looks like @floxycool changed the image.

Nope, its still there, the first one has the cross's across it, may be due to bandwidth issues too hard to change. I hope the next time. :)

I get it now. Not all pictures on these sites are free. I will do well to check them out next time. Correction is noted.
