Overthinking Your Way Into Self Destruction.

Why can't you take things for what they are and just ride with the wave? Why do you have to critically analyze everything even when there's nothing critical to analyze?

The world is full of too many uncertainties for you to start mining more trouble for yourself. Do you really need to prove to yourself that there's something fishy or evil about to happen?

I know the mind of the creative never wants to be idle but don't you think overthinking is the same as taking poison?

You overdose on thoughts that shouldn't even cross your mind in the first place, then you begin to overreact.

Oh yeah, mood swings! I mean, you were happy a few minutes ago but after you dropped the call, you felt sad unknowingly.

True! You told her to say hi to her mom and she laughed it off. She probably doesn't rate you that highly. Imagine waiting all your life and one day she tells you how sad it makes her feel that she won't be able to spend the rest of her life with you.

She walks away with a different guy. The one you've known all along. Her boyfriend.

Now pause.

Why think that far? She claims to love you. She shows it and you know it. It's true she has a boyfriend but that's only because she didn't get to meet you earlier.

You think it doesn't hurt her too? Being stuck in between two amazing guys. You think she loves it?

Have you ever been in a dilemma? Do you even know what that is? Oh, you're a writer so you should be good with words. Yeah, dilemma! That's what she's in.

Now when you're done showing yourself all the ways you two won't work out, and you're done destroying your mood and everything related including your conversation with her, what do you stand to gain?

Loneliness.

Then you'd be remembered as the guy who hit the self destruct button on himself by himself.

What a feat!

Overthinking is often associated with being pessimistic, I think. If a person is confident that good things will happen, why bother thinking about it too much, right?

I am an overthinker. Often times, I do a lot of thinking about the number of things I should finish and how hard they could be that the thinking takes a lot more time than actually doing the things I need to DO.

Thus, I suggest that if you panic, if you overthink, if you became negative, do a moment-meditation. Focus on your breathing and start doing.

This is absolutely true. Thinking takes up all the time and energy and when you're finally 'done' thinking, you don't have enough motivation to DO!
