"Return from death" - Episode 1 - Gilera runner SP50 renovation

Three months ago my friend Ivan bought 50cc Gilera runner scooter in terrible condition for a price of 350 $. Every part of scooter was destroyed except motor itself which worked excellend. Scooter was painted very bad and few plastics was missing. I don't know if you can see on the pictures but even crank for ignition was attached with some wire.

So it was a time for renovation. I didn't know much about how scooters are made but i wanted to help my friend to get registration so we started removing plastics for new paint.

After we removed all plastics we figured out that last owner has removed the oil pan, welded the new shock absorber and cut few construction barrier because he obviously wanted to put bigger motor into 50cc construction. We noticed that lights weren't working. Few cables were not connected. Fuel was leaking in a few places. We also noticed that rear wheel is not centered.

We collected too many failures that i thought we will never get registration table. Fuel leaking was not big problem we fixed it with few zip ties and scissors. We were busy about preparing plastics for painting so in that time we didn't need motor so we took it to scooter mechanic to repair crank for ignition and lights.
We didn't know how to bring scooter to mechanic so we asked his father does he have any idea.
His idea was to put scooter in trunk of a car maybe sounds ridiculous but it actually worked. Old opel astra made it!

While scooter was on service we painted all plastics.

In a day mehanic fixed what was needed but we figured out that even more things doesn't work. Dashboard didn't work and even it wasn't connected with cord to wheel for speedometer so we called another friend who bought crashed scooter for parts.
