THE FATE

Today I'm gonna be sharing a story I wrote myself, titled THE FATE. Hope you enjoy it

Helen was deep in thought, thinking about her meeting with the doctor few days ago.

Doctor : Mr and Mrs Nelson, your test results are out and the both of you are perfectly fine, with time you'll have children of your own.
Mr & Mrs Nelson : Alright doctor, thank you very much.

Helen has been married to Nelson for 21 years with no children of their own, they have visited different doctors, specialists and even pastors but all to no avail, their next option was to adopt a child.
"But God why me, why can't I have children of my own" sobbing. Sweetheart, the voice of her husband woke her up from her deep thought, yes baby she answered

Nelson : We are few minutes away from the orphanage, we'll be there in no time and you have nothing to worry about, Mr John has assured me that we will get the baby today.

Nelson drives into Godswill orphanage home parking lot.
They both walked into the orphanage

Secretary : Good day Mr & Mrs Nelson
Mr & Mrs Nelson : Good day
Nelson : we are here to see Mr John
Secretary : He is waiting for you in his office.
Nelson : Thank you

In Mr John's office

Mr John : Good day Mr & Mrs Nelson, I have been expecting you
Nelson : Good day Mr John, we got caught up in traffic.
Helen : Good day Mr John, how's the family?
Mr John : Fine we thank God, my wife sends her regards.
Mr John : (picks up the phone to call his secretary)Hello Sandra, tell the matron to bring the baby girl.

Few minutes later a lady walks in carrying a baby girl

Mr John : I will take care of all the paperwork, so you have nothing to worry about.
Matron : (handing over the baby to Helen) She's just 7 months old and you would have to give her a name.
Helen : (talking to Nelson) I think we should call her Clara, what do you think?
Nelson : I love the name
Mr John : You can take her home as soon as you sign the necessary documents.

On their way back home from the orphanage they stopped at a shopping mall to get few things for the baby . On getting home Helen was so excited, she couldn't hide her joy, she checked on Clara every minute.

Nelson : Baby, don't you think she would wake up if you keep walking into the room every minute.
Helen smiled and said I just can't help it.

Helen and Nelson took good care of Clara like she was their own, showered her with lots of love and gifts, took her to the best school and promised each other never to tell Clara she was adopted.

.....7 years later.....

Helen : Clara hurry up, your school bus is here.
Clara : I'm coming mummy.
Few minutes later, Clara runs out
Clara : Bye mummy, bye daddy.
Helen and Nelson : Bye baby.
Nelson : Honey, you look a bit pale. Are you okay?
Helen : It's stress. I told the girls I won't be in the shop today, i just need to rest. I will be fine.
Nelson : Alright honey. I should be on my way to work now. Bye, I love you.
Helen : Love you too. Have a good day at work.

After Nelson left for work, Helen felt really weak.
She tried sleeping thinking it would help but she couldn't sleep. She decided to go see the family doctor, doctor Frank.

In the hospital the doctor ran some tests and said to her "you are pregnant, congratulations" Helen was shocked, she told the doctor there must be a mistake somewhere but the doctor was certain that the result was hers.

Helen decided to drive to her husband's office to surprise him with the amazing news, on her way to the office she was so excited she couldn't wait to tell him, so she picked up her phone to call him.

Helen : (excited) Hello my love, guess what.
Nelson : yes honey, what is it?
Helen : (screaming with tears of joy) I am pregnant.
Nelson : oh my God!! Are you sure?
Helen : I just left the hospital after seeing doctor Frank. I'm on my way to your office with the test results.
Nelson : My love, this calls for celebration. Hello..... Hello, baby are you there.

The call had ended, he tried calling her back but her phone was switched off.
Her battery is probably low, he said to himself.

He threw a small party for his colleagues in the office while waiting for his wife to join them.

Nelson phone rings

Nelson : Hello doctor Frank, my wife just told me the good news.
Doctor Frank : I am sorry Nelson but your wife was just rushed back to the hospital, she was involved in a fatal accident an hour ago. She's in coma.

What is the fate of Helen and the baby?
