RE: How 10 Years Of Living In Mexico Has Made Me A Better Person

in #story8 years ago

Ok..they are returning.
The question remains. Why did they endure great hardship to leave? From time to time there are stories about 'immigrants' found dead in the desert, or 'immigrants found sufforcated in the back of a semi truck'. There is supposedly a market for facilitating illegal immigration. Those who do so are called 'coyotes'.

Why would anyone run away from paradise?

@everettmicky You ask great questions. I have read reports and seen videos about coyotes. I have even been to border towns like Juarez and Tijuana. I dont know enough about the problems on the border to comment. However, and I was going to save this for another post, the border towns are the only places in Mexico that I wouldn't recommend going to, the only places I felt a sense of tension.
I've been everywhere in Mexico, more places that most Mexicans and the borders were the only places I got that feeling.
The glaringly obvious questions in my mind are:
Why does the news omit the published fact that less Mexicans have been coming here than leaving since the recession? Where are they going? Back to Mexico. Maybe were not supposed to focus on that fact.

Why focus on the stories of people walking across the border when the fact is more people immigrate illegally into the country on a plane? Maybe we're not supposed to focus on that.

I dont have all the answers, but i know from my experience that what i read in the papers and what I have seen with my own eyes, dont match up. It makes me question the source and hypothesize.

There is one reason they risk their lives and pay a fortune to coyotes to go to the USA, one reason they leave their beautiful country and their families which is so very dear to them is because of the American wages. The average worker is making about $300 USD equivalent, A MONTH, if that. Yes, prices are lower in Mexico but not that much lower. They go for the money they can make, even though illegals have to always live scared they will deporteded, making less money than others, having no benefits, regardless of what you are told. They do t live in luxury in the USA, they share homes with as many as possible and send al their money back to Mexico so their children can have shoes, food, a roof and buy their school uniforms.
