RE: How 10 Years Of Living In Mexico Has Made Me A Better Person

in #story8 years ago

It would seem then that a LOT of 'poor' american retirees, those over 65, living on a fixed income, and poor, would be flocking to Mexico.

For example...let's say an old fart like me has SS income of about a thousand bux a month. What would that get him and where?

Another great question that I've often wondered myself.
I had a 3 bedroom house there in a nice neighborhood, about 1500 square feet that I paid $650/ month for. When I first moved there, I rented a studio apartment for $250/ month.
My electric was $20 / month, water and trash pick up was $5/ month

They would be moving in droves unless they were frightened by what they hear in the news.

@everittmicky I have friends from Ohio, a married couple, that live in Thailand.
Their total cost for rent, electric, transportation, food and wifi is $450/ month. I'm planning to go there this winter for a month.

You should enjoy it. I stayed a year in Thailand at Utapao AFB in 1971. Fun time.

@everettmicky Were you in the Air Force? I was in the Army. Are you in Everett, Washington by chance?

Yup..I was USAF. Nope...I'm not in Everett Washington. I've been there. Nice people, disgusting government. (but I repeat myself)
