[ENGLISH] "The Envy" [ORIGINAL SHORT STORY]
I published this story on Facebook as a "Note" on August 22nd, 2.011
On one of those days when you're a little tired up with people and their lack of internally and personally work. Not only with those who conform to being just as they are but with those who not contents with that fact, try to make the others' lives just as empty as theirs.
Because defects there are many and we all have some, but envy ..., envy is a cancer.
Envy, "the cancer" of social relationships. That set of diseases that produces an excess of malignant criticism towards the other person.
With their "metastases," such as the invention and propagation of false events or facts, and their "tumors", such as the subject's internal rage, that by making sure that the other person is "better" than them, ends with him among horrible sufferings.
No cure possible for many dark-hearted subjects.
Possible cure for this terrible disease in other subjects: "Self-esteem."
Author's note: These metaphors and comparisons are all about that, simple metaphors and comparisons. With no intention of offending with this the potential people affected by that real and tremendous disease called "cancer". At no point is it parodying or mocking the disease called "cancer". Even so, apologies are made in advance in case anyone could feel offended. All my respects for the disease and its affected.

Platforms like Facebook encourage envy. The constant and artificial comparison with others makes people sick.
I agree Facebook is quite the platform for bragging about your life and comparing yourself to others, but is the same not true to some extent on any social media platform including here on Steemit?
Hmmmm... On other platforms it might be the same. But on steemit we are not comparing our personalities. We are "competing" with content, no matter who we are. In fact you could get the same attention talking about your coffee machine as if you were traveling the world.
Actually I wasn't a big fan of profile pictures here for the same reason...;)
Well, I think that the envy (as said could be placed in Facebook or other social medias), more than existing into some social platform container is located into the people, everywhere they could be at.
So what I wanted to mean in my reply to @surfermarly also is that, no really matter the platform you're using because wherever you could be at, there will be some jealous people.
If you personally ask me for that I would say that Steemit do not have many jealous people yet by 2 reasons: first because, setting Facebook again as example, we've many fewer members registereds and second, because I think that the people of this community, artists, writers, etc, are more kindly people and smarter too.
Here we're a bit more selected people community, but still I'm sure we could find a handfull of jealous people here.
"Cancer", unfortunately, is everywhere, inside the person.
Let's hope that's the case! I agree it is a more select community who tend to have a certain appreciation for creativity and well-thought out content that people are posting. So hopefully that translates into minimal jealousy and instead appreciation for those who are successful because they hopefully will have earned it through hard work and quality material.
