8 reasons to learn programming
Have you ever thought about learning programming?
I did, in 1998, and since then it got stucked in my head until, 10 years later (near the end of college) when I had my first job as a programmer. I am convinced that it is not an easy decision and that's why I prepared an article and a short video about why it's good to learn programming. I made a list and it came out about 15, from these I made a top and chosed the first 8 reasons to learn programming.
Programming is the activity by which a programmer instructs a computer to solve a problem. Computer training is done in a language that he can understand, called a programming language.
Reason 1 - You learn to think logically
Although it is said that to learn programming you need math, the truth is that you need logic. But programming also helps you practice your logical thinking.
Reason 2 - You will learn to learn from mistakes
Nobody's perfect and also the best way to learn is when you try to do something. Even if it doesn't work the first time, do not get angry but persevere. You didn't succeded in learning how to walk the first time eighter.
Reason 3 - You learn to divide big problems in smaller ones (solvable)
How do you eat an elephant? Piece by piece... In programming you will practice dividing big problems in smaller ones (solvable), so you will become an expert in solving problems.
Reason 4 - Programming is the new "reading and writing"
If in the last century illiteracy meant not knowing how to write and read, in the technological age illiteracy means not knowing to use at full capacity the technology that surrounds you.
Reason 5 - Programming develops imagination
Any problem can be solved in several ways. To find the most ingenious method you need imagination. And every day you will train the muscle of imagination.
Reason 6 - It helps you understand how applications and websites work
If you're not curious to know what happens when you click on a button or how you favorite game was made, you definitely have one less reason to learn programming.
Reason 7 - Is a universal "foreign language"
If English is a universal language among people, programming is a universal language between humans and technology. Do you speak technology?
Reason 8 - You will have a well paid job.
Have you heard of any programmer working at the "minimum wage"? I did not…
Have you heard of any programmer working at the "average wage"? I did not…
Success in learning your favorite programming language!
Yup, programming is cool to learn. It has a cool effect on how we think - we learn to structure and batch things. Loved learning it.
Hi, yes you're right, and more than helps to structure and batch new concepts it also helps you to solve problems because day by day a programmer should break problem into small problems. ;) Also it keeps you brain trained to learn new things.
Ah yes, good ol' divide et impera. good stuff
