My Maya Story
Let me talk about Maya Angelou, it's April ( her birth month) and I'm honoured to do this. I can't really exactly say how I got to know about Maya Angelou but I guess it was through Oprah talking about "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sing'' ( Maya Angelou's first autobiography). Hmnn, what a blessing it was to read a summary of that book. After getting to know about her, God was I obsessed. I watched all of her interviews I could source online; I watched documentaries and interviews on her affiliates to describe the kind of woman she was. I'm short of words to describe the feeling she brought to my life but I'll try: she brought the revelation and possibility of something ethereal and realistic; a sense of courageous spiritual possibility and in my ever conflicting religious Nigeria it was indeed the light. From her life, I understood what it really meant to be great: to be of service: to surrender. I learnt that our existence is indeed measured by the life we still touch even after our death. Her life was a message for me; an epistle I turn to to drive my consciousness into deeper possible spiritual grandeur. One that leaves me with the hope to dare, to love and to learn. I am everything and more because she lived; because I had that energy released into the cosmos before I was born, to in some way, help me pave a daring possibility. Grateful Dr. Maya, grateful.
So, what's your Maya story? I'd like hear about it.
Hmm! Interesting. Her life was? Is she gone? It's good to have a role model/mentor. It really motivates and encourages. My own Maya? I'll talk about it later.
