The Tale of Lady Keah and the Princes of A

in #story6 years ago (edited)

It is a tale of Lady Keah, one of the most beautiful ladies in the city called A. Her beauty is silent as the golden sun during summer time but is deadly like the forest fire that engulfed the city a couple of hundred years ago. Her lips are soft as the cotton they harvest and her eyes shine like the elegant moon at the top of the twin mountains.

Like any other beauties, she is wooed by a long line of men from different noble families. However, her heart is already set to Arkin, the city's present crown prince.  Arkin is the youngest of the two princes. Keah initially fell for Arturo, the eldest one, but he broke her heart. Eventually, Keah moved on and Arturo went to a decade long of adventure with the princess who was engaged to him.

Arkin, as the new crown prince, frequents Lady Keah's cotton farm. He would wander near the river and steal glances of the infamous beauty of the lady. Arkin is friendly and charismatic. He bewitched the ever aloof Lady Keah. She built her walls so high but Arkin managed to tear it all down. Arturo may be her first love but Arkin is her true love. Their aunts and uncles, their parents, and every people in A say that they look good together and that they will soon wed. She is a beaut and he is, too but that is not why she fell in love with Arkin.

She saw him in a different light. She loved him in his carefree state when he's not acting as the prince. She loved how he just simply made her heart beat every single time. He treated her like his very own princess. He would fetch her in her house and they would watch the stars. The only thing that's missing is the label. But who needs that anyway? When all of the kingdom knows you're going to end up together?

Unbeknownst to all, one day during the winter season, news broke out that Prince Arkin wedded a princess from a faraway land. Everybody was confused but it was nothing compared to what Lady Keah felt that very moment. All along she thought she was the one. But like a true lady, she did not waver. Tears from the nights she cried herself to sleep remained unseen, her lips smiled sweetly like always, and she walked with her head held high even though deep inside her heart was in shreds. It bleeds no blood.

She was hurt by Arkin in almost the same manner Arturo hurt her. What lesson should she learn, she asked herself one night as she basked under the sun the same time raindrops touched her face. She stayed that way for so long that one morning, her parents found a plant growing on the same spot where she sat. Just kidding. This tale is not like any other tale.

This is a tale of Lady Keah, who, despite the pain she suffered, vowed to continue to love but she would love herself more. She believed it was not the wrong love but only the wrong person. She did not stay under the sun and rain for too long, she gathered herself up and walked elegantly back to her home where she would make herself a warm cup of tea. #
