One of the best stories ever told: Call Me By Your Name!

Being a story teller, Oscar season to me is a sort of super bowl; a chance not only to enjoy, but to learn from the year's collection of lauded screen plays. It is without reservation that I proclaim my appreciation for all things romance, and so, 'Call Me by Your Name' made it to the top of my list. With very little frame of reference, I settled in to watch what I anticipated to be "a good film." Well there are good films, and then there are stories you carry with you forever, or rather stories you've always carried, and were perhaps sitting dormant like a museum tableau waiting for the light to come on, to be visited. This movie is that light.

It was not long before my Prime membership would too become familiar with the title, 'Call Me by Your Name'. I purchased the book in the hopes of capturing what a feature length film had not the time to convey. The book itself makes feasts of episodes where the movie could only offer tapas. I began to draw the parallels in my own life; surely I've experienced this assaulting emotion of unrelenting love-lust? Where was this passion now, or is it reserved for the maddening state of our adolescent years, only to be echoed in circumstances of seemingly insurmountable star crossed unions? Are we as "adults" prisoners of pragmatism, or saved by it's practical grace? Either way, it is better to have love-lusted and lost...
