RE: CRAPS DEALER CHRONICLES: Part 3. How I got my job at The Fabulous Riviera Hotel & Casino

in #story7 years ago

Great story and thanks for sharing your personal experience! I love Vegas and I've gone 6 times as an adult. My dad lives there now so I often stay with him to avoid getting slaughtered by the resort fees, parking fees, lack of reasonably priced food, $8 bottled water, $15-20 shots of liquor, etc before even hitting the casino floor.

I liked Vegas better about 15-20 years ago when it was more affordable and you could get a decent room at Circus Circus, Excalibur, Sahara (which is gone now), or others for less than $50 a night after taxes and everything. They still had the good buffets for relatively cheap and they still had reasonably priced restaurants like McD's in most of the big hotels for if you wanted a cheap breakfast or lunch.

Now when you stay on the strip it's more like a movie theater or amusement park as you're a captive audience and they charge you outrageous prices for basic stuff. My dad said a good way to avoid this is to stay a couple blocks off the strip in the hotels that cater to business people whose companies don't want to pay all the fees associated with staying right on the strip. Many of the rooms have kitchenettes or at least a mini-fridge vs the strip where none of the hotels have mini fridges anymore it seems and if they do they're stocked with $12 bottled water and worse--Caesars Palace I'm looking at you.

But back to your post...craps is my favorite game. I'm no expert but it seems it has the best odds of any game in the house. I like the complexity of it and the comradery that develops between a group of players when the dice are hot. I also like roulette and blackjack (the 5 and $10 tables lol).

Thanks again for the interesting and original content. Personal experiences are always my favorites to read on here! Sorry my upvote isn't worth much. I've followed you as I look forward to reading more of your content.

Thank you for following me! So much more to tell. I grew up here and I can go back to when a lot of the bars didn't have doors and as a kid I would sneak into places like the PAGO PAGO bar and drink beer from the tap since there was no one around to catch me! I'm going to follow you too. AND Up-Vote you!
